Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

KC's bid has the help of Richard Florida and Joel Kotkin. Amazon will more likely take a look at KC's bid just to see what those two have to say. Doesn't need Sly's antics. But yes chingon, point taken and everyone realizes chances are slim. KC doesn't have a major international airport which is req...

If I recall they want one proposal per metro/market but multiple sites can be included.

The article just says 'one of the sites' being offered by KCADC. None others mentioned.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2017/10/11/amazon-hq2-oxford-on-blue-south-kansas-city.html Well, this is over already. The article is behind a paywall, so I don't know what it says, but it appears that a south KC site is being pitched. It's the Oxford on the Blue site along I435. It's ...

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Yeah we've tried the YouTube TV trial and concluded it's 'still in development'. Like the tablet interface a lot (great design) but overall would rather use a remote. YTTV will fail if they don't offer on Roku/Fire/etc. And of course need to offer various channel bundles. DirectTV Now has most chann...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Jurassic Park (E side of downtown Loop) would be a good place if not North Loop. And it may encourage a streetcar line along Indep Ave.

Yeah, I've been traveling to ATL a lot over the years and they build 30+ story buildings in less time than 10 floors in KC, not sure why KC takes so long.

Re: Kansas City Music

Looking at Pollstar, seems KCMO gets about half or more of 'college audience' tours. That's more than I'd expect given KU within same concert market. A concert market tends to be about 100 mile radius last I heard so tour managers maybe look at that more than deciding on KU or KCMO location - it's t...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Or maybe just details about KC's HQ2 bid, Oct 19 is deadline. Or perhaps Amazon is announcing yet another area warehouse on MO side. Seems AMZ warehouse announcements aren't really a big deal anymore. At this point it's no different than announcing another Walmart or Costco opening in a city. AMZ wa...

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

There are also projecting 700mph speeds. Neither has a grounding in reality or has ever been shown to be possible. And the logistics to handle multiple 'trains' in the tube at once even more complicated. MO's feasibility study and CBA should assume 200-300mph, not 700. I'd be surprised if the Feds ...

In terms of tours booked in KC/Lawrence market, according to Pollstar it's pretty much on par for market size, maybe a bit more than some markets per capita.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Google Fiber is not offering TV service in new markets it's entering - Louisville and San Antonio. They are hinting to use OTT streaming services instead like YouTubeTV, Sling, Hulu etc. GF says they'll continue to offer TV in existing markets but would bet they get rid of it next year (that is if t...
