Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I don't feel comfortable even biking down Grand or Main, just use Walnut. Most E/W streets aren't too bad except the faster moving like SW Blvd dumping into 19th, 13th and Loop exits.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Earrhling...can you link to that kcpd statement. I would die laughing that this is the stand PD would take on sidewalk enforcement after years of pedestrians being treated like 2jd class sitizens by cars, bikes, construction, delivery vechicles, etc. It was a KCPD statement in one of the local arti...

Bike Share operator Ofo is pulling out of the states after less than a year. https://www.wsj.com/articles/china-bike-sharing-giant-ofo-to-shut-most-u-s-operations-1531959910 Will be interesting to see how chips fall with more convenient electric scooters. Would like to see KC push for dockless scoo...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

KCPD said they would fine riding on sidewalk. I don't know how much but I'll start telling sidewalk riders "$75 fine riding on sidewalks, I've been caught". edit: I would not ride sidewalk downtown but may elsewhere if not seeing anyone on sidewalk within next 2 blocks. Seems like a reason...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Have noticed Bird blocks out no ride zones on the map for some cities (in red on map). Main St shouldn't be allowed riding methinks at all, especially through CBD/Xroads. In general not in support of riding on sidewalk (given the 15mph speed) but not enforce if no pedestrian on sidewalk at time. Ne...

Yeah don't feed the troll. And if honestly not trolling she needs to stay in Olathe and bow out of this site.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Bird Chargers not on the ball overnight. Less than 50 in service this morning (8am) and several not picked up, still have low charge.

Real birds typically don't go out when it rains, apparently Bird Catchers don't either.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Will Lime be hitting KC soon? And will they target scooters only or bikes as well? Dockless scooters seem less intrusive/messy than dockless bikes and generally more convenient being powered.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Yesterday (Monday) seemed to maybe be the slowest day of usage but today is thumping. Am seeing quite a few roaming around Xroads/CBD over lunch, map shows under 30 available implying at least 40-50 checked out at once, maybe more. (There were over 70 available in morning.)

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Grabbed one after getting off bus this morning and motor wouldn't kick start, acted like breaks were on even though 'unlocked', I heard scooter click to unlock. I finished the ride right a way and gave it a one star rating, it asked why, and clicked the problem. So far it's still showing a charge (...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I thought about getting a collapsible one but then found they are very very high maintenance. Looking at Amazon reviews, many like them until they bust and have high repair costs if even able to get repaired. Some say dead in a month or two, can't return. Are there any local scooter shops with reaso...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

^The solution is to get rid of the surface lot, not the restaurants. :) River Market is now one big TOD center. Park in the overflow lots and take streetcar. But seriously, the Freestyle building lot owner should probably use gated keyfob entry until developed. Would expect Local Pig traffic to more...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Dave, you mentioned that '100 were dropped in KC'. Seems to be only 70-80 in service each morning so apparently a couple dozen are broken/missing/stolen/hoarded or something along those lines. They have been stolen/chopped in other cities for the batteries, apparently can get up to $50 for the batte...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

A 7 mile tour for under $10 not too bad.

I had a problem a couple days ago where the QR code wouldn't scan on 3 scooters next to each other. So I tried the 4 letter code but also wouldn't work, like it wouldn't submit. It worked fine for others so I closed app, re-opened app and it then worked.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Did some random checks around 2PM in KC and other cities. KC already down to under 20 on map, maybe meaning most are already out of power, possibly implying more usage than even yesterday as it hit below 20 after 3PM. I checked Dallas (hundreds operating), Austin (about 100 like KC) and Baltimore (a...
