Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

CVS would get a lot more walk-by business that they wouldn't at 50th/Main location for one. More hotel guests as well who don't have car. Plaza shoppers who need to grab something but wouldn't walk over to 50th/Main, or step in as a reminder of something when walking or seeing on 'mall guide'. Being...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

The spot next to Rye (old Firehouse Subs) is small but there are urban CVS/Walgreens about that size that stock higher. Rye probably doesn't need all that space, drugstore could potentially expand to half of it. The building with Apple store still has space.

Re: Bike Lanes

I've been down Armour a couple of times since last week and noticed the parked cars mostly within the lines. A few hanging over but not totally obstructing. I'm surprised everyone has done so well considering the lack of signage. And shouldn't be an issue once the bike symbols are painted in the la...

Re: Aggressive panhandlers

Most here already discussed this in past... The position that most caregiver orgs for homeless take is that you shouldn't ever give to panhandlers on the streets. The best thing to do is give to a food shelter or related org and direct them to a place to get food/shelter. Giving on the street is not...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Well the desire is for 50th/Main CVS to move within Plaza. The Plaza is one of the higher density locations in KC with all of the hi/mid-rises. And you have all the hotels as well as shoppers. A drugstore is common in most every urban living shopping district I've seen. Those who move to Plaza from ...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

^It doesn't necessarily need state help to land a team. But giving a few early season games to Columbia could work out. STL 2.8M + KC 2.1M = 4.9M direct market and the regional draw would include Topeka/Lawrence/St. Joe, all of MO, southern IL, some Wichita, some Omaha and some Des Moines (they'd sp...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

We split cities with the Kings. Season tickets and suites would be a hard sell. Just put it in Columbia, two hours from both cities. That's a stupid idea too. KC doesn't need to share its NBA team. If OKC can support a team, so can we. OKC doesn't have 3 other major league sports + NASCAR as KC has...

Looks like there are posts prepped for signage, not yet complete. And will they paint bicycle symbols in the lanes? Would help.

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Heard MAC tried to buy the Burger King lot at Armour/Main but owner won't sell or is holding out for value to go up with streetcar. Would be a great spot for large residential building with grocery at corner. Such a waste of a great corner spot, much larger than BK needs. BTW, friends own a Victoria...

Re: Downtown office vacancy

Colliers hasn't released Q1/2018 office market stats yet but at the end of 2017 KC metro was a top performer with vacancy improvement and absorption for the year, as well as better than avg % vacancy. KC and Seattle had the best vacancy improvement (about 2% drop). Through all of 2017, Colliers says...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

Sharing a MO NBA team could address NHL overlap at STL arena. And investors (edit: as well as larger fan base) from both markets could reduce risk. And could help build KC/STL relationships.

The light brick is disappointing. Dark brick more sharp looking but absorbs more sun/heat. The KC Way often seems to favor practicality over aesthetics unfortunately (re: MCW).

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

STL seems to make more sense for NBA given largest market with only two major league sports teams. KC is probably smallest market with 3 of 5 majors plus Nascar. Can KC support another? Sprint Center is doing fine w/out a team. Maybe a MO team that is shared between KC/STL? BTW if unaware, MLS has p...
