Re: Main Street MAX

According to Dave MAX will be killed along Main in Midtown, apparently zero bus service. So what does that do to bus along Grand past Crown Center? And there will be a gap for Waldo/Bside riders. How does a Waldo or Bsider get to Midtown and on to downtown? There wouldn't be one to pick. We are year...

Re: Main Street MAX

The downtown streetcar line is awesome at seamlessly tying together the major downtown districts/attractions, it collapses everything into almost like an elevator ride to different floors of destinations. It can do the same for Midtown and will be great for visitors/leisure riders between Plaza/Down...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

"When security was required, KCI lost TWA as a hub." Not accurate. It was around 1985/6 when TWA made a big change in its air operations and made St. Louis it hub for all domestic operations. Serious doubt KCI with its layout could have handled that type of a setup. At one time TWA had ov...

Re: Smart City Project

Becoming a smart city takes more than sensors and buzzwords.. https://www.digitaltrends.com/home/cities-looking-become-smart-need-look-beyond-adding-sensors/ Would expect most that comes out of smart cities will be behind the scenes with cross-referenced data that cities can use to manage services b...

Re: KC Bike share

Will have to rotate the two and try again. I did lift both styles up while in dock and couldn't tell much weight difference. Maybe my internal weight sensors are broken, or subconsciously am unfairly comparing to my own lightweight bike. Does anyone have the measured weight of each? Nice to have opt...

^You can't really prevent the wall but they can mix things up. Cordish could procure external building materials used in projects with other cities to get economies of scale.

Re: KC Bike share

Tried the new orange bikes and they didn't particularly seem all that lighter, maybe a bit. But they are nicer to ride and the basket doesn't look as dorky as the original bikes. The new ones are starting to trickle down to Westport but haven't seen them further south yet.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

KCI was built before any security was needed. You could freely roam mostly the entire terminal when it opened. When security was required, KCI lost TWA as a hub. KCI is not designed for security and not plausible to retrofit given the narrow terminals. The waiting areas are already cramped and will ...

Yeah, that is what one reports says. Given they already opened, wonder if the other report was false.

Re: Main Street MAX

Like I said, sounds like we'll have to wait for dust to settle when it expands. Not optimistic streetcar will be an upgrade for longer haul commuters, more likely to be a downgrade. We'll see when plans finalize. The advantage goes to streetcar proponents for not having more detailed plan and public...

Re: Main Street MAX

Maybe will have to wait for the dust to settle when streetcar line expands before readjusting other lines. If there is zero bus service down Main/Midtown, would think existing Broadway line would then pickup for those who already use bus and have a bus pass. Streetcar will be notably slower than Bro...

But that's Ward Parkway/SW Tfway. Main or Broadway connecting Bside/Wornall needs an express too if MAX goes away.

Re: Main Street MAX

That is sad if the case. The streetcar will be great for TOD but there needs to be some form of Express line through Midtown that doesn't have as many MAX stops as today. Streetcar is great for local service and visitors but will be slow end to end. Any express bus route from Waldo to downtown via M...

In general not considered so but loosely speaking W Hotel and others are often considered boutique brand even with new buildings.

If you happen to live in a building with a doorman/concierge, check if any are notaries. It's kind of an 'it thing' for them to become one as a service to offer. My building has two.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

^Seems plausible. And while they tend to park near office buildings/airports/convention centers, the free streetcar helps - maybe one of their boutique brands. Otherwise could picture a boutique leaning or specialty operator going for the RM hotel.
