Re: Companies moving downtown

^Most cities have a suburban tech corridor like Corporate Woods/I435 stretch for national branch tech offices but given downtown office space is actually cheaper than that part of JoCo, you'd think more would move downtown.

Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust

Vildehast and Krokstrom are very good, too bad they can't find a more cost effective way to continue. I'd go more often if priced right but otherwise a once a year thing. Tasty and unique but just not quite worth the price.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I am disturbed by the vacancy rates at our parking lots. I'm disturbed that the streetcar has been running a few years and several surface lots directly along the line still don't have development plans. Though nearly all RM lots have something in the works. All of the vacant lots along Main in the...

Re: Westport

I'm good with FedEx Kinko's there. It's a useful store to have around. Maybe in that shopping center with the pet store that just closed but the old Freebirds is prime restaurant/bar location. Missed opportunity. The missed opportunity was not tearing the strip mall down for a larger mixed-use deve...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

The people at Smart KC and the regional economic development people need to convince Lawrence to join in KC's MSA. In the long run that won't even help much though unless KC starting growing a few percentage points faster. There is no reason (other than regional politics) KC shouldn't be growing as...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

Lawrence/KC clearly have economic ties but apparently L doesn't want to become a part of our MSA. KC metro EcoDev groups should pursue it just to help maintain top 30 status. Maybe St. Joe too. Both are under 60 miles from downtown. Warrenton is about 60 miles from downtown STL, part of STL MSA yet ...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

Most market studies use MSA and the CSA list doesn't include large markets that don't have a CSA, like Tampa, San Diego, Phoenix, etc. Vegas and Indy could also potentially pass up KC CSA within a few years.

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

Losing Pro Teams might be the most major impact of no longer being a Top 30 metro but there will probably be many other impacts too, like when services rollout something to the top 30 markets, etc. I'm in the camp that no strong university will continue to be a major factor for comparably slower gro...

Has anyone seen an update of greater downtown population? Also curious about just the Loop, last I saw was about 10K. Re: City Center Square for sale

I tend to pack ultra light when I travel and sometimes misjudge possible weather so might buy a cheap rain jacket, shorts/flipflops, umbrella, etc. I could see hotel visitors going for clothing basics/accessories more than locals. Or if having to stay longer than expected, maybe pickup cheap socks/u...

Re: City Center Square for sale

I've not been in a small urban footprint target but based on size it seems like it would just be a CVS from a selection perspective anyways? Maybe more home goods and less shoe pads? I wouldn't expect a bunch of clothes and home furnishings. I agree with this. Maybe like a bigger lightbulb section ...

Re: City Center Square for sale

CVS is now operating Target pharmacies but wouldn't expect one in smaller urban Targets especially with a CVS nearby. https://www.fool.com/investing/2019/04/13/is-a-target-and-cvs-merger-now-inevitable.aspx I could see Walgreens now wanting to be somewhere along streetcar line, likely very close to ...

The migration data should be updated soon. This still shows 2017 but should be updated with 2018 before end of month.

Columbus and Indy climbing faster than KC. They get the Chicago and rust belt exodus. And helps to have major universities as well as state capitol.
