Re: Five Light

So those are small floor plates for the office portion after all. That probably won't attract a single company, and not enough for a large one. Seems designed as a co-working space on top of a large garage, like a glass version of the brick Plexpod in Xroads. I kind of like the erratic design but to...

Re: Five Light

Star has it... 250K sqft? Looks like it will cover full block, not small floor plates? 16 floors at 250Ksqft sounds skinny. Biz tends to prefer large floor plates. HR Block is abut 500Ksqft with 17 floors. Parking reduced to 750 spaces instead of abut 1300 originally proposed for spot. https://www.k...

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

Downtown has been over 95% leased for a good ten+ years but with a new wave of higher end units online would appear there's not enough higher income willing to live downtown at over $2/sqft. Lack of higher income downtown job growth probably a factor but if nearly all units were under $1.50/sqft it ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Did it go downhill? Last time I was there it was fine. 'So last 3 years ago' or sign of Xroads getting more supply (of eats/drinks) than demand? Have been wondering if a breaking point has hit.

Re: Proposed: Hyatt House Hotel- 900 Broadway

Denver's downtown population was quite a bit higher than KC's ten years ago. We still have a ways just to hit critical mass, considered to be about 35K-40K. Or at least in past that was considered sweet spot to attract most any retailer. But in this age of online shopping and everything is a service...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Elly's - am guessing it's about weekday biz too. They were busy weekends but I've been weekdays several times recently and it had below avg crowd for the size of space. Maybe the rent too high, is a rather large space.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

According to Lime app, there are a couple _bicycles_ downtown at the moment - about 18th/Main and Library district. Also one on Plaza by Michael Kors. Error in app or are they experimenting with bikes?

edit: One in Westport too.

Other notable tidbits from same study. * Of the portion no longer attending high school, 59% were enrolled in college last year. That’s a jump from the 53% college enrollment rate among millennials in 2002 and an even bigger jump from the 44% of Gen Xers in 1986. * Just 13% are growing up in rural a...

Xroads looks to be getting a couple more grocers. A couple bookstores have opened up this year.

What amenities have you seen in other downtowns you'd like to see DTKC?

Would think Lime will also need to arrange dedicated parking for airports, which would probably be a popular use especially in KC (not having effective public transit to airport).

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Lime is launching per minute car share in Seattle. Can rent via same app as scooters. "Rides in the LimePod will cost $1 to unlock the car and 40 cents per minute of use." ($24/hr) So under $15 for airport run from Plaza if no traffic, less from downtown. https://techcrunch.com/2018/11/13/lime-is-de...
