Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Sounds like the streetcar extension stops still not quite decided... My suggestions.. - If 31st won't have a stop, place stop between 31st/Linwood - Place 39th stop between 39th/Westport Rd - 45th St stop maybe unnecessary? Overall concerns that streetcar won't be 'express' enough. Ideally there wou...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Using a FakeGPS app to set in different areas, looks to be about 500 in city, which is the KCMO limit per operator right?

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Is my Bird app not working or are there really no scooters nearly all downtown and all piled up in midtown to UMKC?

edit: OK, so it looks like they show scooters for just a certain radius now. There are over 200 scooters downtown and over 200 in midtown to Brookside to Rockhurst.

My gut always thought outside lanes better overall but can see the benefits of center lane.

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

The broader comparison to make with US/Europe is that the US doesn't teach much etiquette in schools while Europe generally does. Americans value individuality a bit too much over valuing impact on society compared to Europe and especially Asia. It impacts many behaviors and Americans are poor at no...

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

Isn't surprising that KC/STL stretch of I70 isn't 3 lanes given that MO is mostly a Tea Party state. MO ranks 47th for gas tax so the standards are lower overall. KS ranks 32. https://taxfoundation.org/state-gasoline-tax-rates-2017/ Northland has mostly 2 lane highways compared to rest of metro and ...

Re: 2018 Downtown Reports

National tend for a while has been build high end rentals with intent to convert to condo when market conditions right. Easier to fill with rentals first than sell 50% or whatever up front. Aren't Cordish towers intended to go condo eventually?

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Are you guys Bird Chargers as well?

Curios that Bird stopped planting morning Nests in River Market over last week. At request of RM? And looks like riders are pretty good about not parking on Plaza. Given red zoning Plaza was supposedly Bird's call, will be interesting to see what Lime does.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Seems red zoning the streetcar line makes more sense as more notice issues. Riders can get caught in tracks, riders on sidewalk buzzing by sometimes packed streetcar stops, Main is busiest ped stretch, etc. Scooters should be allowed to cross Main but perhaps not ride along or park. Scooters can be ...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

When Lime hits with another 400-500 scooters would expect those annoyed by scooters to speak up louder. It's the nature of new things that are highly visible, especially interacting with drivers/peds. The typical pro-urban position is that in the City.. - Peds are highest priority - Bikes/scooters/t...

Not impressed with the Gyro wrap (too dry) but the #1 Chicken Schwarma wrap is quite good (and filling enough). Will have to try bowl if hungry.

That’s a ton of new places, especially in the Crossroads.
About 40% of entire metro list is River to 85th St stretch.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Would like to see enforcement of sidewalks along streetcar and wherever there are bike paths but otherwise rider etiquette should be to stay off busy sidewalks or if people seen walking up ahead (or ride very slowly). Mixed feelings about making Main through downtown a red zone but riders should use...
