Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies
I want to see the State of Kansas eat crow on this one. I honestly hope that Regal Entertainment or Cinemark Theaters buys AMC in the next few years. All employees get transfered to Tennessee or Texas. I'd like nothing more than to see the shiny, new, 4-story builing at "Park Place" sit em...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies
Poachers. The "Land of Milk and Honey" wins again. From my point of view it's as simple as avoiding all AMC offerings since they are no longer a Kansas City company. Their CEO is as much to blame as anyone.

Re: Lees Summit Update
Costa Vida is coming to the area . . .

These are all over Utah, Idaho, and a few other western states. I've eaten at one in Salt Lake City . . . pretty good. Reminds me of a combination between Baja Fresh and Chipotle.

Re: Stephenson's landmark restaurant up for sale
I live just south of there off Lee's Summit Road. That building has been condemned and is on the verge of collapsing anyway. It has become an eyesore in the area and is time to go. However, the orchard is actually a couple miles south on Lee's Summit Road from the old restaurant. It is many acre...

Re: Lyric Opera operations moving to Crossroads
I personally think this sucks. I've always thought that location would have been a perfect place to build a new baseball stadium in 20 years. But then again, in 20 years this new building may be scrap iron.

I lived in DC for three years and Cosi is better than Ingredient and Mixx, not to mention they really aren't all that similar. Not nearly as pricey either.
My ultimate preference would be a Potbelly. That place would rake in the cash.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was kinda making a jab against the KU fans who associate Missouri with meth labs, even though Kansas has higher meth lab bust rates. This was coming from some crappy photoshop job some KU fan made with the college gamegay crew with meth lab background made when college gameday came to Mizzou. Mor...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since it's almost in Independence, Meth labs? Seriously? I'm getting a little sick and tired of the slams against Independence. It's a perfectly fine city just like Overland Park. Try slamming the east side of Missouri . . . that is where the meth problem is. http://www.mshp.dps.missouri.go...

Re: Crown Center to get aquarium
That would be awesome. Even more awesome relative to the investment would be a marina at Kaw point. And while I'm pipe-dreaming, I honestly think when the NFL and MLB demand facilities upgrade in 10 years we should consider placing our stadium complex in the W Bottoms. If you built the stadia strad...

Re: Crown Center to get aquarium
True but the one in AZ was built in an existing building as well... $15M for 26K sqft. Not sure when the AZ aquarium was built, but keep in mind that construction costs are also down from several years ago. Not to mention the construction industry in KC is much different from the once booming indu...

Werner Park in Sarpy County
Visited the Omaha Storm Chasers' new ballpark (Werner Park) today--they were having an open house. Wow, not impressed. Some forum members have criticized some Kansas City projects for using what appears to be corrugated metal panels, well, they did use them on this ballpark and used a lot of them....

Re: 2010 Chiefs
That's great news for the Chiefs to get a Monday night opener, however, I have a major issue with this and the NFL. The Royals should not have to change their schedule because the NFL didn't plan accordingly. The Chiefs have sucked worse than the Royals in recent years and the Cheifs should have t...

Re: Missouri Mavericks
How about some love for the Mavs? They are the most successful sports franchise this metro has seen in a while. Playoff tickets go on sale Tuesday at Noon. I have to say I find their style of play very exciting and it beats basketball by far in my mind. This team has developed a pretty strong and...

Re: Light Rail Systems And Routes In Other Cities
Forgive me if I am dredging up an option that is considered by most to be impractical, but why in the world are we (KC metro area) not talking about elevated monorail? From everything I've read and heard this is by far the most practical form of rail-oriented public transit. There is no street-lev...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take it easy everybody--the season doesnt' start until April 5th. Apparently everyone has forgotten what happened last year during the off-season. There were a slew of quality free agents who didn't have a city to call home even in mid-February because so many teams, the Royals included, blew thei...

Re: Omaha's Midtown Crossing at Turner Park
No offense to the Omaha pride, but I have family there and have been there many times yet I got a "grand tour" this past weekend anyway. One of the stops was Midtown Crossing which, yes, is very large and will provide some medium density living. However, I was extremely unimpressed with ...

Big Lots is a very respectable business. So respectable that its CEO/President likes to enjoy the reefer on the weekends. True story--I have a very close personal source.
