Re: NYC Migrants Are Being Welcomed by Kansas City’s Mayor to Fill Jobs
I'm not opposed to people earning a living wage, but increasing wages also contributes to further inflation in all goods and services. I'd contend this isn't really the main cause of inflation. It's mostly our government massively increasing spending and the Fed turning the knob on the money printe...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination
The density argument seems obvious to me and I'm not clear on what the disagreement is for bfa. Increased density = more people in the same space. A thousand people paying a tax will generate less money than ten thousand people paying the same tax. What am I missing here?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Royals are looking good so far. How do people think that will effect the new stadium? I hate to be a downer, especially because I am enjoying this start as much as anybody, but I think it is way too early to draw any conclusions about how the season will go, which also makes it way too early to...

The fact that Tampa is outdrawing the Royals by "almost 1000" says way more about Tampa than about the Royals

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I think Clark Hunt needs to come out and say his money specifically will pay for the upgrades to premium areas and VIP suites. I'm sure a lot of minds will be changed if voters learn that their money will merely free up Hunt's contribution to cover exclusively VIP shit, rather than paying for it di...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Rams were transparently trying to move, and they had a much more lucrative destination in mind than anywhere the Royals could go. What is happening with the A's is a much better comp to the Rams than the Royals are. I'm not going to make any bold predictions about what will or won't ultimately e...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The only thing bad here was the plan and campaign by the chiefs and royals. They thought they could just roll out a half assed idea and everybidy would vote yes like they always have. They simply need to fully explain their vision and be consistent. This is exactly right. People in this thread need...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Sorry, but this is bad. This is not coming back to a county vote. No way. At the very best case, the state will have to put in a bunch of money to try and do a hail mary, but it will be for a much more watered down project. This grand project south of the Sprint Center is dead. My guess it KC is go...

I'm not really interested in getting into the stadium thing, because although EV was the right place for it, that ship has sailed, so whatever, hopefully they do a good job with it in the Crossroads, but the idea that downtown residents should be intentionally inconvenienced because they're suppose...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
This framing of me "continually arguing" with you is a little confusing, given that the sequence of posts here was CUA crediting developers for bringing down rents in Austin, Portland, and SF; me kinda "well actually"ing that; and then you jumping in to reply to me and complain a...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
You literally used the words "let the housing market function." If that's not what you actually meant, then fine, but it is what you said. Sure, you say zoning should be fixed but you continue to argue like it isn't absolutely necessary. I've already said it before, but I am all for revisi...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
In an obviously unsuccessful effort to keep these posts from spiraling to greater and greater lengths, I mostly skipped the quote and response format and just tried to sum up each point a little bit more briefly (still quoted a couple pieces that invited more direct responses). CrossroadsUrbanApts I...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
phuqueue, you are right that this left-right NIMBY alliance issue exists in many cities - that's why there is a nationwide housing shortage! I see you in other threads explaining to people that there are other more important reasons than KCT for the difficulty getting things built, but now you’re i...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
Because KCT thinks the market "won't work for everyone", they specifically attack that market and try and make it work worse for everyone. I guess what you are not getting is that their organization is actively trying to limit the addition of new supply to the KCMO housing market, because...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
I'm not really interested in rehashing the argument about what KCT does or doesn't really want. We just did it a few months ago and a few pages back, and I'm not aware of any new information that would change anything since then. Your arguments on the point are duly noted, mine already fill up pages...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
Man if I had a nickel for every time somebody on this board misapplied "my logic" in trying to explain it back to me. Sure, I guess if you assume you can make valid apples-to-apples comparisons between literally any products, then you got me, but I'm not sure the fact that flat screen TVs ...
