Re: Word of advice to Roadrunner users or those considering it
Also, 400-500 Kbps doesn't equal 3.2 to 4 Mbps. That would equal out to .4 to .5 Mbps. 1 Mbps=1,000,000 bits per second. 1 Kbps= 1,000 bits per second. Hey Thrillcekr, how you been? FYI, bahua is correct. He is referencing KiloBytes (KB) per second not KiloBits (Kb) per second...big difference.

Re: Briarcliff Village
I know people who would go at 3:30 or so to Happy Hour at Red Star just to hold down a table till the other members of their group could get there. Next time you see these folks, tell them to get a life. Or better yet, how about some taste? Red Star was just plain awful. The food and drinks suck...

Re: Shoal Creek Parkway
Here's a link to the city's major street plan map. http://www.kcmo.org/planning/pdf/transport/mjstplan.pdf Shoal Creek Parkway is on there along with several other streets which are yet to exist in full. Does anyone know when any of these streets will be completed? Like Shoal Creek Pkwy, several s...

Re: Why a Downtown Stadium Didn't Get Off The Ground
How about the Massive Greed of the Current Ownership? David Glass is the sole reason why the Royals aren't moving downtown. He didn't want to spend his money. And why should he when Jackson County taxpayers will foot the bill?
When thinking of Glass, always remember "Wal-Mart."

Sidewalk maintenance is the responsibility of the property owner. However, Kansas City (i.e. Barnes, the Council, and Cauthen) refuse to enforce the ordinance.

Re: Is Eminent Domain Being Abused in KC?
The new Eminent Domain HB 1944 was signed yesterday. City or its development arm can still do public works-type condemnations of course. Can still condemn blighted land for redevelopment. And it looks to me can still condemn land for redevelopment if the majority is blighted. Cannot condemn non...

Those cameras are not red light cameras. They are there to detect cars in the lanes as part of the signal control system. They don't take video or pictures.Steve52 wrote: There are video cameras now at the intersection of 47th and Belleview.
Both directions. Just noticed them today. Hard to miss.

Re: Turncoat Star
Not saying a stadium would not help (very limited) downtown, but the Star took the view of what was best for the Kansas City area as a whole, not a small section of the whole area. There is a difference. There is also a difference between using the facts at hand to support an opinion or using fear,...

Re: Turncoat Star
The SOS campaign took out a lot of advertising in the Star...I think its value was probably in the 10s of thousands of dollars. It's the same as Comedy Central not airing anti-Scientology stuff for fear of loss of advertising revenue. Objectivity flies out the window when a business is involved. Ad...

Note that you are over 30 times more likely to have an accident biking on the sidewalk as on the street. This is from a study titled: ADULT BICYCLISTS IN THE UNITED STATES - CHARACTERISTICS AND RIDING EXPERIENCE IN 1996 , by William E. Moritz, Ph.D . Click http://www.bicyclinglife.com/Library/Moritz...

Tracks are still there all the way to 59th (Where Raytown took out a dilapidated bridge) but they are in bad shape after 25 years. But the grade, right-of-way and base are the expensive parts. Tracks are cheep, relatively speaking. Hits KCMO at the Raytown border (55th) If I am not mistaken, this l...

Re: One really good reason voters should've rejected the stadium tax
The aviation department is a city of KCMo department. Aviation is funded as an enterprise division of the city. Every dime that goes into it, is generated by its own special taxes on aviation fuel, airline tickets and lease income from the private enterprises on aviation property. Every building ...

Kiss and make up? Sorry, but Shields isn't all that pretty. If you roll over after this, you will be doing exactly what Pat Gray and Glorioso want you to do....remain sheep. KC needs to stop being so damn complacent. It needs more passion and fire. Learn from this experience. It is OK to be piss...

Ever wake up after a bender and wanted to chew off your arm rather than wake the person next to you? Jackson County is going to have that same urge tomorrow, and the next, and the next....... If you think that this decision won't come back to haunt KC sometime in the next 25 years, I sure the hell h...

I'm fine with the renovations to Arrowhead, but crap, the Royals need to deliver a decent product to get me excited about going out to the K. New bathrooms aren't going to cut it for me. As far as downtown, let's not get too full of ourselves. We still have to deal with: -no decent mass transit. -h...

Jackson County votes for a sales tax on groceries but votes down a tax on businesses? Scotty must have beemed me into some screwball parallel universe.
