Have you ever been to a non tourist area of San Diego. My experience in SD was a few months atCamp Pendleton (the USMC base) and the surrounding area. They are far and i mean FAR ahead of Kansas City in almost every way.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Don't like it? Build your own. Growing, thriving cities like San Diego have replaced many surface lots and old, obsolete single-family houses in their core with buildings and designs similar to this. Same goes for Denver. I was there last week and they had fully build out neighborhoods where every ...

Looks a little better in color. I'm still not too fond of the design but it's better than a gated parking lot.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I see no reason to revise my earlier prediction: this poorly designed hotel is going to extend the dead atmosphere of the convention district into the Crossroads. I'm still holding out hope that they are going to put some kind of thought into the pedestrian experience. Remember, they did put this p...

I just can't wrap my head around the cost. What about this project says $96 million when i look at something like one light which cost about $17million less.

To be fair, it does in this rendering. We know that the final project is not going to be all white monotone buildings. The color and glass in the finished product will go a long way.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

It does make the current complaints about what goes where kind of ridiculous. The public vote could have gone the other direction and this could be our present day reality.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

It would be interesting to see a picture of the same area twenty years ago. I think it's amazing how far downtown has come and I can't wait to see the skyline five years from now when three, four light are completed as well as the new convention center hotel. I agree that what we need next is a new...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

can a new construction hyatt be "boutique"? pretty sure that's what epoch said they wanted. seems like they'd want to be in the CBD, too... why not the spot at 14th & baltimore owned by DST that didn't make the cut for the convention hotel? or 14th and wyandotte, that would remove tha...

Re: Three Light

Black glass has always made me nervous. One Kansas City Place has never really been a stand out design to me, but I can see where black glass would be really cool with the right design. Not sure what that building is in the third picture with white but that's a sexy design. I think everyone will be...

Re: Three Light

Sure, most folks will say that they don't care about the design of any specific one high rise. BUT, when you ask what people like about our "Skyline" they'll most likely mention the fact that it's varied and stepped in appearance. It's a very visually pleasing skyline, and signifies a cit...
