Re: Downtown needs larger police presence

Come to Northeast, I've lived here for almost 14 years and I've only had a vehicle tampered with twice (both times a broken window with nothing stolen, just jerks breaking windows apparently). And I park on the street!

You don't always need the existing density to justify the construction of light rail and commuter rail.

Tell that to the people with the federal grant money.

I can't tell if this is a stupid temporary fad doomed to failure or a stupid long-term fad doomed to annoy the shit out of me.

Yeah, when even your "suburbs" are paragons of urban design by comparison, there is obviously a density scale issue to take into consideration.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The extreme thin/skinned approach in the second two are very off putting. I get that it can come off that way, but we've been going around in circles with this stuff for years. Ultimately we're going to get whatever we can get precisely because it is what we we were able to get. Not because things ...

I think that is perfectly rational. I do not think politics or political debates like this are long going to be subject to the constraints of rationality.

Re: Buck O'Neill International Airport

I agree it is harmless. I agree it makes no sense. I also think it's silly and artificial. But if it is harmless and legitimately makes some people happy, what's the big deal? I can't really see any practical reason to oppose. Maybe some day we'd like to name things after people that mean something...

Re: Electric Park Neighborhood (East Bottoms)

I will be mildly annoyed if the gazillions of dollars I've spent there help facilitate them moving to somewhere I won't ever visit, but hard to blame them if they think they can do even better business elsewhere.

Re: favorite under-the-radar mexican places in the kansas city area?

I do. This probably comes off as a bit of a cop-out, and I haven't tried them all, but in my experience they tend to be FAR more hit than miss so it seems likely that most of them are worth checking out. My top favorite spots never seem to make it very long, I'm not sure whether this means I have ba...

Re: favorite under-the-radar mexican places in the kansas city area?

Given over 40 languages spoken on NE side am surprised not to see more variety of eats outside a couple Vietnamese and an E African. But that's a lot of Mexi for one stretch. We've had several come and go. The diversity is great, but the populations may not be quite dense enough to sustain restaura...
