Re: Politics
I am not certain that the apparent clarity with which 1970s era republicans were able to view Nixon's misdeeds is possible today. While the partisanship seems about equally toxic, there were not an infinite number of sycophantic blogs, podcasts, YouTube personalities, fake news propaganda factories,...

Re: Politics
35% of Americans will support whoever is on their team. It's all about "winning". That's a function of extreme partisan politics. My memory may not be that great when it comes to politics but it seems like that is a relatively recent phenomena. A Trump or Greitens 30 year years ago would ...

Re: Politics
If you were to ask Trump, I imagine he would tell you that he not only thought to run political ads like those, but that he did run them and they were tremendous, they were the best ads; believe me, nobody knew you could have ads that good. People are saying that those brilliant ads helped swing the...

So he maybe took some pictures, did some rapey things, possibly blackmailed a woman and also could have engaged in felony tampering to solicit campaign donations. Sounds downright presidential to me.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
This forum has a tradition of regular posters using sock puppet accounts to troll each other. I would hate to discourage that or to try and enforce some kind of mandate on what sorts of opinions are acceptable to express. Clearly, some people like parking lots. Given their prevalence, I think it's ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
A moderator should just do a google search of their email address. If it doesn’t show up, ban them. If it does, it should give some indication of troll or not. This forum has a tradition of regular posters using sock puppet accounts to troll each other. I would hate to discourage that or to try and...

I get it. Looks trollish. But no way any of that is ban-worthy. Don't assume malice when ignorance is just as good an explanation.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
I wonder how long it will take everyone to figure out they're being trolled. Literally every post has been bait. The possibility hasn't gone unnoticed by the people you'd want/expect to notice this kind of thing and it's been under a bit of discussion. The situation is being loosely monitored, but ...

I vaguely remember hearing something about the hydraulic ones not playing nice with cold weather / snow / road salt or something. Could have just been a silly rumor or I could be conflating it with something else though.

I have to admit, I'm a little skeptical of a menu with that wide a range of cuisines on it (and passing carnitas + pineapples off as al pastor...? Huh?) but I look forward to trying it. Whatever those skewered meat nubs are--I'm guessing the Peruvian beef--look pretty awesome.

I ate there a bunch of times shortly after they opened. I thought it was quite good at the time, although it's no surprise that it trended downward after Dalzell got run out of town. My sole (relatively) recent visit wasn't terrible, but wasn't really up to par either. Too bad.

Re: What other cities are doing about affordable housing
We're no longer rapidly throwing up low quality McMansions in exurban greenfields at a record pace, displacing wildlife, worsening automobile traffic, and encouraging coyotes to snack on domestic pets? What a crisis. Where's the Save 199th Street From Eventually Being Virtually Indistinguishable Fro...
