Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

I distinctly remember that being a Coldsnow--or at least some kind of art supply place--whilst wandering around Westport when I was supposed to be in high school.

Re: Power and Light District Official Tenant List

I don't think anyone would actually fight it. They'd just grumble about it online and never go there. That's what I'd do, anyway.

Sorry, it was just a bad Star Wars pun. Han Solo? Harsh PUNishment? HAR HAR HAR!

Except in reality I think that is just option 2 with a lot more money spent on lawsuits.

Re: Shanghai trip/photos

Very interesting. Makes me kinda want to visit China, although I'd hate to go solo since I'm not Han.

Which may be somewhat true, but probably deserves harsh punishment.

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

Man, when an American bureaucrat does that, it gets tied up in courts for ages and they probably end up with a slap on the wrist, assuming they even get caught in the first place and don't just get away with it entirely. China dismantles the whole agency and kills the administrator. On some level yo...

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

That's kind of the benefit of having a wealth of massively dense megacities and an authoritarian government that can do whatever the hell they want, rather than a bunch of sprawly half-cities filled with people whose primary dream and goal in life is to move even further away and a government that c...

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

It's kind of a crackpot idea that's been around in some form or another for over a hundred years. I would love to see it work and be made to work safely and with near zero risk of an accidental breach horrifically killing a train load of people slamming into a brick wall of air at the speed of sound...

Oh, me too. I'd much rather be being currently or shortly inconvenienced by track-laying activity along Independence Avenue than eventually being irritated by people who voted not to have a train complaining that they don't have a train.

Their minds are made up, you're not going to convince them of anything. I can kind of sympathize, but I'm at least capable of changing my mind.

The most vocal people on the internet are people who are mad about something and want to share their indignation with anyone who will listen, so that actually wouldn't be surprising.

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

I suspect that being the largest city in and particularly the capital of Iowa are factors. It could be a coincidence, but it seems like a lot of the "hot" cities are state capitals.

I'd heard that around the time it came out and thought it was alright, but upon relisten... that's a pretty sick tune.

A year-round indoor market a la Reading Terminal would be amazing. Also, I may not be madly in love with the "River Market Complex" renderings, but I don't really see how anyone would prefer the surface parking.

I'm unfamiliar with (and fairly disinterested in) the details, but my gut says passing the Chastain plan will screw things up for the foreseeable future. Can Dave or someone confirm or deny?

It's mildly irritating that the new Domino's won't deliver to northeast. I was glad the newish Papa Johns that opened in xroads a while ago does. Is 19th and McGee really that much closer than 11th and Main? I mean, given they're chains I assume they just have some radius algorithm that decides wher...
