Re: Next Mayor 2019

I'm not following this race very closely, it seems to me that we have two good options and I don't really care that much, but just so I'm clear on the current rag dynamic: is the poster people were lambasting as a racist elsewhere basically the only person rooting for the black guy to win? Or have I...

The entity that runs/manages Crown Center was interested in reducing costs and by getting both properties under a single company (Marriott/Starwood), they could streamline business expenses like food management, marketing of meeting space and make renovations cheaper and more efficient. Hyatt had p...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

I hope it’s not split up. I’d love to see this kick start East Village. Federal jobs have a mandate to locate in urban core. The USDA is at 63rd and 435. Their definition of urban core might not be what you think. And the EPA is at 112th and Renner. Where there is basically no transit available. TH...

Appears to be a case of, "Elon said it, I believe it, that settles it."

Which, as far as I can tell, is almost as dumb as the original saying, but at least there is evidence Elon Musk actually exists and has done things. So I guess that's an improvement?

We live in a free market economy as long as you can afford to participate, which is basically how it works everywhere else, but I think in most other places they're at least honest about it being bribery.

Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL

For the record, my questioning of the tech's feasibility was was not in economic terms, it was in purely technical terms. Like, when an airplane depressurizes, they have oxygen masks and they can decrease altitude. Once in a while someone gets sucked out, but it's usually not a complete disaster / h...

There is so much talk about automated cars recently with Tesla and others working in self driving. I’m surprised that airplanes haven’t also seen movement in this direction. This would eliminate pilot cost and allow automated air traffic control systems. The cost would probably be paid for by the e...

That's not true, aren't the upstairs fast food joints in B still only accessible outside? Why you'd leave secured area for a whopper instead of settling for a janky taco at the no-longer-acessible-outside-security taco joint is beyond me, but maybe you have to also poop and don't want to deal with t...

I don't think Cleveland is struggling more than KC. I haven't spent a great deal of time there, but I was there around 10 years ago and even then it seemed pretty nice. This was as P&L had just been coming online for a bit, and downtown Cleveland at that time seemed healthier than downtown KC. They ...

I think part of the problem here is that this is government we're talking about. They do growth projections and build models and then do studies based on those models, and by the time the projections and models and studies are all finished, reality has happened and some of the flaws in the models an...
