Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

Because that is the law? Yeah, but the school district has a small fraction of the number of students that it used to, they have more buildings than they can occupy and haven’t really proven to be efficient with the money they have. That is the basis for my “why?” It seems the payments to the distr...

Re: Troost developments

Sorry, I just have a personal hatred of the show. I find myself screaming at the tv when they say hardwood floors can’t be restored just because of one spot in one room. Then they put back click together floating floor. They do a terrible job of repurposing anything and history means nothing. And fu...

“Good bones”- Lets take an old house, completely tear it down except for saving the front door, put it on a new building and call it a restoration.

Re: Capping the Loop

Missouri doesn't allow commercial uses on (or above) their property, or at least that's what the city and consultants (HNTB) found... Wouldn’t capping the loop including using Truman Rd South for building along with the land south of the highway? I thought the idea was to sell that land to use for ...

Perhaps they could take some space from H&R Block across the street. I heard they were trying to rent out some of their floors.

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

Remember that the city has no say over the school budget and vice versa. How do we change this? Schools is as much an economic development issue as business attraction or transportation and I feel the current district leadership just has their own interests at mind instead of what is good for the c...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

From an outside perspective you have to think this has to be a sign of progress. When original TIFs start to expire DT the city should begin to see a rapid growth in revenue. These residential property tax increases are just the beginning. You do have to wonder how this will be spent. Will city offi...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Let’s be honest, KCATA and PortKC have a strong working relationship and are trying to help each other in ways that benefit each other. PortKC wants garages for future development and streetcar expansion and “park and ride” are the excuses.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Ok, carry on. I’ve also seen people park cars there when picking up takeout orders but can’t blame them too much if there are several other vehicles already there. I suppose it’s just part of being a city. Still don’t like it.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

A car is across the white line and it will probably get ticketed and towed in 10 minutes. Make it happen a few days for the turn lanes and it will end real quick.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Why are the turn lanes along the line turning into parking spaces for delivery vehicles? I counted 9 vehicles on one drive through today, one a police car with a policeman coming out of Cosentinos with a sandwich box.

I heard they were requiring residents to take turns doing around the clock patrols in order to not have fire alarms/sprinkler systems. Otherwise, they couldn’t occupy.

Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment

I was able to find some preliminary renderings. I’m not going to post them here because I’m hoping they improve and that what I saw was just to show massing and scale. It was office on top of a parking podium with zero street interaction on main. I’m tempted to track down the architect and grill th...

Re: Westport

What happens if a developer wants to build on a plot with two different height restrictions? For example, SE block of 39th and Broadway has three different standards, under 3, under 6 and 10-15.
