Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

You should come, it’s a great museum! The Westin Crown Center is across the street from the museum, so you could walk. It’s a nice hotel for families and has an indoor/outdoor pool. I believe it’s recently been updated. You’d also be across from Union Station and the streetcar stop that can take you...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

True, but you can excavate unbuilt on land fairly simply, which is what my proposal calls for. Excavating below the existing museum complex though? You'd have to dismantle the whole thing and start over. We're talking all new foundations, elevators, systems, ect. And for what? Underground facilitie...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

H&R Block won’t let the development opportunity expire. It will happen. It might take a little more time or the project will look differently, but you’ll see movement soon even if it takes another money negotiation with the city.

While I hate to see the departure of an Italian restaurant (the core has too few - down to Gorozzos, Anthony's and Lydia's now?)
You forget new additions Farina and Lazia.

I tried to shop at that Sunfresh when it first opened to support the neighborhood even though I don’t live in that area. When it first opened, the produce was great and prices were good. Later, I started noticing a change where the fresh produce and meat selections started to change to frozen fish a...

Cities Start to Question an American Ideal: A House With a Yard on Every Lot https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/06/18/upshot/cities-across-america-question-single-family-zoning.html It will be interesting to see if fully autonomous, ride sharing vehicles will cause removal of driveways and ga...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Does this mean construction can start before approval of federal funds? Nope. It just says to the feds "all local approvals are in place" while we wait for them to award the grant (which is anticipated for 2021). Some long-lead items may be ordered if local bonds are issued, such as vehicles, rail,...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

County extended the BOE appeal deadline to the end of the month and are considering capping increases at 12-14%. Is that cap for residential only? A lot of the big increases (2x, 3x, even more) are on commercial properties. Not saying the new assessments are not correct -- just wondering how long f...

Also: EVERYONE CALM DOWN THIS IS JUST A MASSING AND NOT A FINAL RENDERING. So, what exactly did PortKC approve? Since they’re the developer, city council won’t get a vote to approve or reject. This could get fast tracked and sentiment towards design should be given now so they know the thoughts of ...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

Just make purchases apply to increases in assessment. Decreases would require a petition by the purchaser or if value is decreased due to tearing down property. Honestly, if you take away value I don’t really think you should get a decrease.

They can’t measure heart in their little formula. I’m positive that if the city asked for housing volunteers to host families during the games because of limited hotel space, there would be hundreds of people volunteer. Yes, I know about AirBNnB. We’re nice enough to do it for free. Carpools to the ...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

A purchase should automatically adjust market value. If you purchased a house for $200,000, that should be the new assessed value. If an old lady bought a house 20 years ago and it was assessed at $50k and they never adjusted it, I’d be great with her paying below the market value. She came to a dep...

The Chief train skirts the SE corner of Colorado -- La Junta and Trinidad. Three hour drive from Denver.
