Sounds good to me! Give me Ghana vs. South Korea or Egypt vs. Panama. Huge win just to get a game.

I agree with the thoughts on Local Pig business booming. It will be packed from open to close and will have to add a second location within a year.

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)

I haven't been but I've seen the photos and I have to wonder what the motivation was for the complete change in the decor. It seems pretty apparent to me that the space was meant solely as a compliment to the hotel, which is understandable. They needed a place for hotel patrons to have breakfast so...

Then they shouldn’t have used the same name. If you’re going to call it The Savoy, it’s going to get a comparison. If you just wanted a hotel bar, call it the 21C bar.

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)

The old restaurant died being a "special occasion" fine dining restaurant. The market changed. Plus, you said the food is good. It will do fine. No, DOWNTOWN died in the 90s as a special occasion destination. Good thing it’s starting to be reborn now. The Savoy is less than what it could ...

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)

I was disappointed, tbh. The Savoy Grill was the cities high end restaurant of its time. They’ve lost that with the new dinning room space that is totally new, but boring and the bar area that kept the old decor but lost the high end feel. They put couches in the bar to try and fill the space instea...

If you take a scooter on the streetcar do they still charge by the mile? Is it GPS based or does each scooter have an internal odometer?

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Was the garage designed to support a building on top? Yep. Doesn't matter because there's a height restriction and a protected view shed that would prevent anything from being built on it. Until that plan is modified, it will remain grass. Put in place largely by the people that built the PAC. I’m ...

Just booked an Icelandair flight to Europe. $4-500 cheaper than normal. Would love a nonstop to a major destination, but so glad for the new carrier.

Re: KC Bike share

That’s a pretty weak differentiator. Do you think a tourist is going to ‘shop around’ to find a bike that is $3/ride vs. $4? And don’t you think the market leader is going to adjust pricing to compete? They’re going to poach each other, which might be good for customer pricing but bad for expansion ...

^ Yep, just differ in opinions on this one. I guess we'll see. I contend one will float to the top and the other will die out. If either option don't see the other as competition, they better get ready for a fight.

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

There is so much wasted space around the PAC. Why don't they build on some of that space? Why does it have to be this fortress structure with no walkable connection to the neighborhoods around it? Because "they" is a private organization that only had the money and legal basis to build th...

I get where you're coming from, but there is no evidence of this in other markets – we're far from the first to have both. In fact, overall ridership and rider diversity have been shown to grow – lifting all ships, etc. I have a very hard time finding bad in more riders on bikes, and this is just a...

Re: KC Bike share

Hopefully both methods can survive in KC. This is the bigger issue for me. I know that competition will lower costs and, perhaps, increase access, but I think it will also dilute the product. Right now, our bike share system seems very well run, clean, maintained, and growing. I’m worried competiti...

KC Star calling for Pat Klein to be replaced as Aviation Director. Having watching the council meetings about the airport, I tend to agree. He seems a bit in over his head.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

And a lot of the reason that foreign goods, especially from China, are so much cheaper is because environmental effects are largely ignored. China has some of the worst air quality in the world. Instead of calling it a tarrif, they should impose an ‘environmental surtax’ just on that country. The id...
