Re: Middle of the Map fest

There are a handful of SxSW knockoffs out there that have a chance to gain traction now that SxSW has turned into a corporate showcase for already signed/major bands. How does MotM compare to other spinoffs? What other major ones are out there? Is MotM attracting any labels? IMO, they need to stren...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I'm not making this stuff up. Go to any higher-end mall like South Coast Plaza, San Francisco Centre or Forum Shops in Vegas and you'll see it. The higher end stuff clusters in one area and the boutiques will sit empty before they turn them over to Potbelly Sandwiches or Soft Surroundings. They have...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Most big retail centers have a plan for what type of tenants go where. I think Highwoods just threw that out the window and started just putting anything where they could fit it. This is good in the sense that spots aren't sitting vacant as long, but unfortunate because the center won't really reach...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Although I commend Highwoods for at least starting to sign leases opposed to letting things sit there for half a decade like they previously did, their retailing plan is really a mess. It's all over the map (Eddie Bauer next to Burberry, Tumi across from Potbelly Sandwiches, massive Forever 21 ancho...

Personally, I welcome almost anything coming into the city that's open 24 hours. It's needed.

This is a different app than Priceline. Different customer as well...

Download the iPad app and you'll get what they're trying to do. They send out pro photogs to every hotel.

Hotel Tonight is live in KC

This is a really cool (and quickly growing) company if you haven't used them before. Glad to have them as an option in KC now.

Neighborland

Hey friends, Haven't been around much with lots of stuff going on with work, but I wanted to share a site (associated some folks I'm friendly with) that I think y'all would be interested in. It's called Neighborland . Basically it's a place for people to talk to each other about what projects, place...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Will there be a line outside the Foot Locker just like there was at the Just For Feet at Bannister Mall? I wonder if House of Hoops does shoe releases. Whenever a big shoe comes out, people usually line up to be the first to get it just like the iPhone at the Apple Store. I think it's good to have ...

What are some other shops you'd like to see come to the Plaza? Have to admit that Highwoods is doing very well of late. Here are some that would add more cache to the district... Isn't there a coffee shop literally a block away? Soho or something? It's pretty good, but it just has bad hours.

Re: Blogs about KC visits

To be honest, people are going to eat meat when they come to KC. It's just a fact everyone needs to get used to. They will also probably ridicule the small handful of excellent vegetarian and vegan choices. I don't think it's a bad thing to be *known* for a certain type of cuisine. It's much better ...

Re: Kansas City optimism

I think Kansas City is turning the corner. Seriously. It's not just the Google stuff. It's a lot of things. It's the people. It seems more like a place to dream than ever before. A lot has changed in the last 10 years (both physically and mentally). It's exciting because there is a sense of optimism...
