Re: A good suit
Anybody have any luck at Slabotsky & Sons or Michaels? Jos A. Bank scares me. I buy all of my clothes at Michaels - won't go anywhere else - local retailer, been in business >100 years. Service is great - find a salesman you like and stick with him. Don't know what price range you are looking f...

Years ago, one of the pediatric neurologists from Children's Mercy had an antiques store that faced 43rd. The building was eventually demolished.lock+load wrote:So what was previously on this corner? It's been vacant as long as I can remember.

Hmmmmm....maybe the Teabaggers should help the farmer's finance the protection of their industry. OTOH, maybe the govt should help protect our food supply from the biohazards and genetic re-engineering developed by Monsanto, et al.

Re: What newspapers do you read?
NYT & Star daily online; Sunday NYT in hardcopy. About 2 years ago we received both in hardcopy - Star took literally about 30 seconds to read. I found that we let the NYT dailies pile up unopened as we were reading online. So, cancelled the dailies and saved $600 annually and perhaps a portion ...

The article was a bit condescending to KC and tended to reinforce stereotypes (cowtown).

Re: independent radiation monitoring
This study is what I feared and seems a portent. Sadly, Kansas City is noted to have been in the radiation plume. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/medical-journal-article-14000-us-deaths-tied-to-fukushima-reactor-disaster-fallout-2011-12-19 Don't worry too much. The estimate is about half of the nu...

Re: Health in the Medical Industry
Been in healthcare for 30 years. 1 out of three people are obese - 2 out of three are overweight. So, 2/3 of most people we see are overweight. Then go to a hospital where the clothing is not designed to flatter anyone - suddenly, everyone looks bad. Healthcare is similar to the general population -...

Re: Conover Place Questions
One of the places we like is the Conover Place lofts in the River Market area. I'm curious if anyone here has experience with the place good or bad and any other things we should be considering. We've mostly focused in the River Market area, but have looked a bit downtown at financial district and ...

I've been driving through that intersection since August of 1974 and have never seen an accident (which of course, doesn't mean it hasn't happened). Seriously, the cars just seem to obey and behave properly.

What is it that you do inside the house? What is it that you do _outside_ of the house? How many hours each? Which has a more meaningful livability factor for you? Consider taking the time and write down _the details_ of how you live, when you do it, how long you do it, what you do on weekdays/w...

Re: Can anyone recommend a bike?
I'm willing to spend a decent amount of scratch if its worth it, but would prefer not to pay too much as I'm not looking for a high performance bike or anything. And what are some good local places to shop? I bought a Giant Sedona, 21 speed at River Market Cyclery 2004. It has about 10 miles on it...
