Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge

Wasn't the plan all along for the northernmost span to be demo'd, even if the bridge was staying? I didn't think they could make the connection from the new bridge to 169 north of the river with the old span in place.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Jokes on them anybody can drive in that commercial lane. I may have stumbled on a significant hack when I was picked up on my last trip. Head across to the second curb and have somebody meet you at the charter bus section. I can't imagine it gets that much activity so it should be pretty empty ever...

There's a thread elsewhere on this board titled "Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunders?". I'm of the personal opinion that this project may just be the biggest - especially in the last quarter century or so.

Re: Grand Blvd Closures

Why can't we install some speed bumps along Grand? Would that not eliminate the street nonsense? Even if only between 13th and Truman it would also calm the traffic that is meant to use that street along with eliminating the nonsense. Edit: They don't even need to be the annoying and aggressive type...

Will the cars themselves still go all the way down to Union Station to make the turnaround?

Re: General Amtrak Discussion

I took the family on a spring break trip to Chicago last week on the Southwest Chief. I have to say it soured me on Amtrak for a very very long time. On the way there it took 8.5 hours instead of what should have been 7 due to the usual BS of waiting for freight traffic and the like. On the way home...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Looking at the MCI flight schedule on a day to to day basis it looks like the last flight out (at least these days) is a Southwest flight to Midway, WN3369. There are two flights that arrive after midnight (a Delta flight from SLC and a Southwest flight from Vegas) that I recall reading earlier in t...

Thanks for the detailed writeup. My wife, one kid, and I took the Chief home from Chicago in October 2021 when, stop me if you've heard this before, Southwest had system issues and cancelled our flight home. I wouldn't want to ride it much longer than CHI-KCY but for that segment as you said the tim...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

that's just not how things were designed I know the garage was designed for a possible rail connection (emphasis on possible) but was an APM possibility also part of it? I thought an APM idea came up after the design was already in place. It would honestly make a ton of sense to have it connect rig...

I wonder how much they'll be able to deaden the noise out there. It sure doesn't take much for an airplane less than 500 feet away to cause an audible ruckus.

Meanwhile Oklahoma and Texas, two absolute Republican strongholds, see incumbent Governors polling with single digit leads. Wisconsin, Kansas, Arizona, and Georgia are all polling extremely close but I wouldn't categorize any of those states as "blue" at all. Okay...let's be clear here. T...

Due to the NFL Draft, all non-emergency excavations in the pavement from the River to Brush Creek, State Line to Chestnut is to be put on hold until the start of May.
The city just won't feel the same if Broadway and SW Blvd goes multiple months without being torn up.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

IIRC the new complex just built in the northland was whispered about as being a possible training location. There's just about nothing else around it, but it's got plenty of real estate to be sure (and Garmin out in Olathe).
