Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

They are already turning dirt along Horridge. The section along Noland is difficult terran, but will get developed someday. Still not sure how any of this helps Hickman.

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

There are middle class and luxury houses in KCMO that are in the Center, Lee's Summit, and Raytown school districts. Some are a short drive east of the Cerner campus down Bannister Road. There is also plenty of land to develop for new housing around those neighborhoods. There is also plenty of KCMO...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

One of the biggest office construction projects in the entire Midwest, if not the country and it gets pretty much zero attention here or anywhere else. That alone should say something about just how bad of a design this really is and how this walled off private single use office park will have almo...

The trend is for smaller stadiums too. So like would be in the 30-35k seats size.

Is this a game of "what would have been in Downtown this year if the PnL hadn't happened"?

Re: OFFICIAL - New Downtown YMCA (former Lyric Theater)

I hate to see it go too.

On the other hand, it was one of the most uncomfortable theaters I have ever sat in. Narrow seats, worse than economy airline legroom, and some really bad sightlines in the cheaper seats.

Excellent! I assume this means they will be able to secure the area in off hours. Really surprised there wasn't more theft or vandalism with the current layout.

The article is very informative on how the plant works, how they add new lines, and how they add new customers. Worth the read if you are curious about that stuff but don't want a technical paper.

At least the Marriot's presidential suite looks better than a lot of its standard rooms.

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

You're not tracking with me. I'm talking about when the whole area is developed. Yes, there will be more net parking, but there will also be a 100% increase in residents over last year (there were zero before The Union opened), so there will be fewer available parking spots for non-residents. Also,...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Honestly, I'd like to see the thing replaced. Pretty poor architecture IMO Indeed, the Crowne Plaza (not its original name) embodies poor architecture because the city hired a low-bid architect back in the urban renewal days. Same guy who did all the Missouri state trooper barracks; he tossed in th...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

A large park and ride facility at the casino with a streetcar extension would have been ideal. Parking for riverfront events will become more scarce as the port authority fills in the area. Plus it will help justify easing parking mandates in the downtown area. Parking for riverfront events will be...

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

KMBC Channel 9 just reported that construction will begin soon on repairs to the I-70 bridge near Rocheport, Missouri. They said to expect backups from 3 to 8 hours. MDOT blamed voters not passing the gas tax in November to fund a new bridge. on one hand it's going to be good to see something so vi...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

So I guess this type of reuse is catching on. I got pulled into helping with a project at the Hazelwood Mall in St. Louis where the entire mall is being transformed into mainly Volleyball and pickleball courts, with softball and soccer outside or under a sports dome. There will also be a sports bar,...
