Re: STL MLS proposal resurrection

Were there any discussions to repurpose the dome? Not that i'm aware of. In theory that seems logical, but unfortunately the dome would be wildly out of spec of the parameters that MLS is looking for. I would not want to attend a soccer game in a dome. That's where the repurposing comes in - remove...

Yikes. That looks worse than the "before" picture of 601.

I'm sure it will be lovely.
I’ll be curious how Butch works deck stain into the facade of that.
I bet a lot as the whole façade has basically been removed.
Was by yesterday, it has.

Re: American Royal BBQ

I'd heard the event becomes more and more about private tents over the years. Additionally, I think there may have been a second flatter entrance towards the back left. Not sure how you make the entrance flatter since the entire track is banked. There is a tunnel that they were running a tram throu...

Re: American Royal BBQ

It never really seemed like a KC Tradition to me. I felt like its always been a "Who u know" event that didn't give a shit about the public or community but if know people in the Royal then its probably amazing. Exactly. Now you can just get a ticket and walk in to the general area. (Could you do t...

Re: Open Spaces - Kansas City Arts Experience

I think it's more fear than anything. From the 70's until today it certainly is not perceived as a safe area. Southside used to have biker gangs hanging out most of the time. And the northside is adjacent to the "Murder Factory". The actual safety of the park is much different than the perceived saf...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

I was going to suggest across the creek from Nelson Atkins, then realized that was the MRI Global property haha. Don't think we have to worry about William Jewell becoming a big player, their accreditation is currently on probation. I'd leave MRI Global alone. It fits in well where it is and doesn'...

Almost rather see them purchase the MRI Global property and build the performing arts campus there.

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Moving Rockhurst out of the area won't add 10k students to UMKC. Those kids won't transfer because Rockhust moved. Correct. I looked up the Rockhurst enrollment. They only have about 3k students. So, wouldn’t increase UMKC numbers even if everyone transferred. It would provide additional facilities...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

If you build a lot of campus housing then the university will start requiring that students live on campus, at least for their freshman year. That would add another 8 grand a year to the cost of college. UMKC's mission is to provide university-level education at an affordable price, and that moves t...

Re: Layoffs at The Star

Omaha, St. Louis and Springfield Mo. have better papers with WAY more local content than the Star. Each charge $9.99 a month for digital. KC Star charges $12.99.

McClatchy is a poorly run company. Hope for bankruptcy and that someone of merit picks them up.

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

The sweet spot on I-70 is the speed limit. Set the cruise at 70 and you almost never have to hit the brakes. Can't explain why but it works. I drive I-70 and I-29 a couple of times a month. I couldn't agree more. I've driven I-70 back and forth from KC to StL to KC hundreds of time (it seems) since...
