Re: chain vs. local, bigotry, etc.
I used Yelp last week on a vacation in New Mexico. I used it to select over 80% of the meals I ate. If Yelp or sites like it are to become the new standard, the success rate has to be better then I experienced. While visiting one of the top rated restaurants on Yelp near Santa Fe I had the worst s...

Things would have to be massively worse for an overthrow....... However, there will not likely be a better time in the next 25 years for the Libertarian party to try and build support. If they can manage to get even 10-15% of the voting public with them (most needing to be moderates) then both of ...

Steamboat Arabia and the Minor league baseball museum are both well done and interesting.
I also like some of those already mentioned.

Re: Bailout Plan Vote
I think this is a good idea as well. If I had $4,950 to pay down my debts, I could eliminate some of my debts and as a reult have more spending power to pump into local businesses each and every month. Imagine 140 million households suddenly with better spending power. This isn't some kind of...

I know this thread is really about throwing out generalities and unfounded claims, and I really don't want to get in the way of that  but, it is my experience that management ethics are not constrained by chain vs. independent operation. I worked for a chain that had the manager seen anyo...

Re: chain vs. local, bigotry, etc.
Most chains are simply businesses that sell food. They are not truly restaurants. Most chains run with horror at the thought of a scratch kitchen... It has been hit upon by others on this thread, but most people avoid taking risks and choose where to eat based on prior experience or word of mouth. ...

On Amazon most blu-ray titles are 19.95 -23.95.
Still more then regular DVD, but if you have the system to take advantage of the 1080p and new audio codecs....it is hard to ever go back to regular DVD after seeing it in action.
