Re: Misc Crossroads News

I can see the blurb now: "All 17 Johnny Kaw's XR locations include a small room where anyone can enable their augmented reality glasses to view art made by local artists; all the physical art is located in a warehouse/artists' colony (previously a Walmart) in the Northland. The AR art galleries were...

Re: FSN KC so where do Royals go

I know you'll spit out a spambot-quality list of all sports broadcasters and streaming services currently extant or rumored to exist in this country in the next comment, but the correct answer is "nowhere, until their rights come up after this season"; Sinclair's purchase of the Fox RSNs makes it mo...

Re: OFFICIAL - 909 Walnut

Per the “meet the new office staff” happy hour last month (which, unsurprisingly, turned into a “bitch about new ownership” event), Worcester has back off on that idea.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Apparently one of the spaces in the building on the NE corner of 18th & Wyandotte will become a "real street taco place like on the Boulevard or in KCK - not that Guy Fieri BS" and the hoped-for opening is in September. (source: guy sitting next to me in a bar who had been working on the sprinkler s...

So tell us, who's got your vote? If committing to an actual person on the ballot is too much, what *should* a mayor be doing to reduce crime rates and fix potholes?

C'mon, John! A higher qualify of troll would be able to provide reasoning why in (at least) semi-coherent language *and* insult all the forum regulars in an somewhat amusing manner.

Don't you aspire to that level of trolldom? Be the all the troll you can be!

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Given this is the "close enough" thread - is anyone running an organized write-in campaign for the 2nd district at-large seat?

If so, they have my vote; if not - I'll just write in the name of <random Northlander who lives in that district>.

Re: OFFICIAL - 909 Walnut

Hey, at least Worcester eventually realized that the "not telling current residents much of anything" strategy wasn't working, and will be trying out the "Let's have a garden party happy hour! Come for the booze, stay for the pep talk about how awesome we are and definitely know what we're doing!" r...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Icelandair isn't trying to compete with the US legacies - their game plan the past few summers is to get to any remotely-viable market they could before WOW Air did. They succeeded, as WOW collapsed this morning.

Cerner's Twitter account mentioned that company travel accounted for 2900 arrivals/departures per week last year.

Re: Next Mayor 2019

So...what do you want city leadership to do to resolve those issues? What do you think a city leader (either the actual ones running or any idealized one) *can* do?

Re: Plaza Residential Development

I'd have to imagine the target demo is UMKC/Rockhurst/KU Med students, but that's a lot of 3-4 bedroom units in a location that's not particularly close to any of them.

Scooters appeared to be closed today and some furniture being moved out.
Spokes opened today

I *think* Scooter's closed on January 26, so that would be 46 days between their closing and Spokes opening.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

It was removed a couple years ago.

On a sidenote, I don't get all the hand-wringing about the layout on the east side of Walnut through there; I'd put just enough thought/effort there to make it look nice until 2026 (or whenever the Arabia museum leaves).

City Barrel had their friends and family event last night. Friends of mine who went raved about the food as much of the beer; I wasn't aware that they would be running a full brewpub operation.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

A study in contrasts: The world's slowest restaurant conversion is still sputtering along at 12th & Walnut - a fire alarm permit was applied for and granted on the 5th . Meanwhile...Scooters vacated 929 Walnut less than a month ago, and Spokes already has exterior signage applied to the windows and ...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

The sign went up in mid-September.

Next month will be the 3-year mark on this project. If I was a bit more artfully inclined, I'd stage a performance of Waiting for Godot on the corner. :-)
