Re: Is this it?

This point shouldn't be lost. American cities were often dirty, racist, classist places where lots of horrific things took place. I can understand the movement to suburbanize. However, instead of improving the conditions in our central cities...white people packed up, abandoned them and destroyed w...

Re: Books we are reading.

the book had all sorts of facts. i think he concluded that it's possible to change the way things are in the political world by one carefully placed assassin. he didn't go into lincoln or even the archduke that much. he did go into some of the ethnic genocide, but not a whole lot. he did delve into ...

Re: NV

Is this a natural evolution everywhere or is KC more plagued by this clubs-devolving-into-stupidity problem? I guess most clubs have a short lifecycle but I was hopeful when NV popped up and seemed to be sleek and classy. I'm not much of a club-goer but I know this is an amenity that is an importan...

great thread.  we haven't had many neighborhood threads of KC in a while.  it's nice to get an expat's perspective.  incorrect use of the term. he is actually just a former resident and not an expat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expatriate what egg are you referring to with the pic of grinders?

two chapters into Silas Marner: The Weaver of Ravenloe (It's on the list of book I was supposed to read before college that I have changed to "List of Books to read before Dead") Pretty good so far, female writers of the 19th century have a certain insight you don't find anymore, especial...

Re: Trains blowing their horns at 2:30 AM

yea, why would you put produce on a train for 10 blocks and then offload it to trucks for another ten blocks? But it's funny what people will tell you on the streets. That train also ran in the middle of the day and it was always amusing to watch it cross busy 20th Street and freak people out. They...

Re: Carl Peterson resigns

You have to give Herm credit for guts. He made the decision to get rid of the vetrans like Trent Green, Casey Weigman, Eddie Kennison, Tony Richardson, etc because he decided it was time to rebuild. He decided not to bring in older free agents to replace Roaf and Shields. Thinking that if you were ...

Re: Chiefs

it really doesn't matter which QB the chiefs had/could get/drafted etc. they could of had peyton and eli and tom and big ben and they still wouldn't of won a playoff game because it's quite obvious that carl doesn't know how to pick winning coaches.

Re: Cosentino's Grocery downtown

The point is there is no effort to detach privileged whites from his/her automobile even when it's subsidized by the city. Cosentino's and orientation towards the parking garage is reinforcing racist norms and suburban perceptions. I pray there is a charge for that parking. and the point of your po...
