Signal Hill

Anyone have any info on who is building a concrete bunker house facing SW Trafficway? Guess concrete construction will muffle the traffic noise.

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

This is starting to look interesting viewed from mid block McGee. The masses of apartment blocks rise in three misaligned tiers. There are glimpses of open interior courtyards. Sort of a Euro vibe. There will be 5 types of cladding and 2 colors of window and frame.

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

An elderly person in checkout line at Costco told me there was once a Wolferman's grocer at Armour and Main. Anyone know which corner? When did it close? Would be nice now to have a dt Cosentino's size grocery on Main.

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

Isn't the Marriott still using the Muehlebach convention center facilities just south of the old hotel? What will happen to that or will connectivity be maintained through the apartment conversion?

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

31st puts me back in a 10 minute walk shed. I knew there was a walk shed gap and the graphics really show that. Looks like there was a tremendous amount of feedback from Union Hill interests that made influence. I was not even thinking about the two public health service agencies at the intersection...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

If it is built on Barney Allis Plaza the park can be replaced with a smaller park with no garage under it so there can be real trees. How about the lot on Wyandotte west of the Power & Light Bldng? It could serve both residents and convention activities.

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

The lobby and exterior clearly say "Grand Hotel." Wonder what it would cost to build a new hotel and cover it in limestone? Even such costly and monumental buildings as the Whitaker Courthouse and the Kauffman Center PA use cast stone. The only building to use real stone lately is the new ...

The most enduring and desirable of all residential high rise towers in KC are nearly identical triplets. But they do vary slightly in orientation and ornamentation. That is the Walnuts.

Re: Union Hill Development

Since these were once hotel kitchenettes they are small apartments. The only change has been to add a closet with stacked washer dryers. The living room areas all seem small and there is not much closet space. The 2 bedroom has a second bedroom in an upstairs open loft. While I am glad they recycled...

Guess they do not plan to bulldoze everything for a future East Village. An aquaitance purchased a 6,000 sq ft bldng at NE corner Charlotte and 10th for less than $600K for a medical clinic. Even has some surface parking.

Re: 911 Linwood Redevelopment as Senior Housing

It originally had a different name. I remember being in the building in the late eighties on a social work visit to a client, but do not recall when it was torn down. I remember the exterior as having a lot of terra cotta in a gothic deco style.

Hope it does not go the way of The Defenders across the street. That was the tallest building between DT and the Plaza and the sign on top was almost as familiar as the Western Auto.
