Re: We need a new airport!!!

The sci-fi movie "Passengers" has a circular waterfall fountain like the one proposed for the new terminal, only not two story. Appears actually to use very little water with sheet of water held together by surface tension.

Re: On-going downtown development projects

He may have better luck with the value of the Romanelli shops on Gregory. That Egyptian mausoleum next door to the Oak bldng would make a cool townhouse.

Re: Hospital Hill activity

Certainly will be the most prominent building on Hospital Hill. Will visually extend the Crown Center skyline to the east, as the Sheraton is just across Gillham. Sort of resembles the KU Med Cambridge tower, but curvaceous. Also like the cantilevered west end and the stairwell enclosed in clear gla...

Re: OFFICIAL - Traders on Grand

Wondering about the glass. Modern high rise glass usually is reflective to a degree that to the outside in daylight it is opaque. One does not need to concern about privacy or walking about au naturale during the daytime, only at night when interior lighting is on. Here you can see quite clearly int...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Did it actually sell? I just remember an asking price(which I doubted she could get). Some of the sixties apartments on that stretch are notorious. Who wants the most expensive house on a sketchy block? You could get a brand new house on Union Hill for less with a better modern floor plan and a two ...

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

Pedestrian access restored on McGee. New curbs and sidewalks on west side configured with driveways and approach walks for rowhouses in second phases. Seems odd that parking structure is rising on the highest elevation of the project. Nevertheless units on the upper floors facing west will have nice...

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

A five story concrete elevator shaft has sprouted up near the 27th and Gillham intersection. Now can get some idea of an area that has been barren for most peoples memories will look when built up to this height.

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

I have talked often to business owners in the area who all say the project is a no go because of the parking issue. It may come back without the new building, just a renovation and penthouse on the old with surface parking to the north, much like what was done with the Battery Lofts. Not ideal, but ...

Re: TowerEast arts district

Wanderfest was strangely interesting. A dozen sites between 31st and Linwood east of Gillham. Some highlights were a ceramic studio where she makes sculptures of oversized magnolias and porcelain firearms christmas trees selling for thousands; a workspace of a childrens book illustrator where he als...

TowerEast arts district

According to KC Studio magazine the area around 31st and Cherry has been rebranded as TowerEast, the hottest new arts district in town. Consists not of galleries, but actual makers of art.
There will be a festival with art food and music on Sunday November 5 from noon to 6p.m. called Wanderfest
