Re: Uptown Shoppes

Keeping parking for the Uptown is vital for that venue. Some performance nights parking spills over into the neighborhood. You might think something dense built up next to Broadway was torn down for the strip mall, but it replaced something actually less dense, an old mansion. I think the stone wall...

Looks like they are encasing the exposed limestone bluff above Truman behind a giant stone wall.

A very good view of the construction is now visible from the Liberty Memorial deck. It is apparent that due to the tower being set back somewhat from Baltimore that only the lower western section of the P & L bldng will be obstructed from the south.

Looks like the retaining wall is almost finished. It reminds me of the faux stone at Disneyland rides such as Big Thunder Mtn RR and Star Wars.

Re: New Downtown YMCA

Saving the facade and losing the auditorium is ok by me. I was a 20 year symphony season ticket holder who gradually moved up to the best seats in the house(the middle of the front row of the balcony). But in most respects the theater even with its acoustic modifications was lousy. The decorative as...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I could go with a compromise. Just the dramatic roof in the main building, not the concourses. The iconic roof lines at Denver and Dulles are like that. The desired indoor fountain could be just some sort of economical design with water running down a wall.

The 2nd crane is going in today as is the raising of the dormant concrete elevator shaft. I see this suddenly rising above the trees from my balcony and now realize this will entirely block my partial downtown view.

How about water jets arcing over the moving sidewalks? Might give everyone the urge to pee putting all those new restrooms to heavy use.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Not specified, but will this mean a new bridge over Brush Creek specifically for the streetcar? I think I remember before the flood control project the old streetcar bridge. Think there is room for the transit hub and Winsteads to remain but the bronze statue (Massasoit?) will have to move. He was m...
