Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.

KC has very few very tall buildings( by which I meant at least 400 Feet). There was a spate of classic towers in the thirties with the last being city hall in 1935. Then there was an immutable drought for thirty years until Commerce Tower in 1965. Them cc Sqaure in 1976 and then Town PAvilion in 198...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Hereford bldng all gone. That was quick. Just too bad they did not move to the historic site of the stockyards in the West Bottoms with all the activity there.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

None of the renderings I have seen show what if any treatment will be to the limestone rock face above Truman immediately below the current Hereford bldng. I don't recall any rockfalls but the construction may disturb this and make it as unstable as the stone above Main at the Liberty Memorial. To m...

Re: The Future of Crown Center

No one, not even Union Hill homeowners can ever seriously object to anything of height being built on Crown Centers south lots. That model showing office high rises on those blocks sat next to the Streetcar in Crown Center shops for over 40 years, even before Union Hill was cleared for housing. That...

This location is disgustingly filthy. Used to be the one thing you could count on at McD's was cleanliness standards. Besides, the owner campaigned against the last citywide light rail vote. Boycott.

Maybe more than that. These types of uses have tall floor heights due to the generous space they build in above the ceiling for all the systems.

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

There are plans in the not distant future for a high end restaurant in the Cadillac bldng. The developer wants to put a triangular building in to the hill where McGee meets Gillham and put the rental office and a new gym in it. He then wants to attract a chef restaurant in the current gym spot. No t...
