Yep. Same thing with Raymore.

Re: Best and Worst Suburban Downtowns

I'm including a few cities that aren't actually suburbs, but not including Lawrence because I think it's pretty much a given their downtown is awesome. The best: 1. NKC - Nice street grid, easy to walk and bike, nice mixture of shops and urban housing. Not much "history," but still charmin...

Re: KC needs "yield to pedestrians: state law" signs at every intersection...

So, each downtown neighborhood would have to actually purchase X amount of these to have it be uniform in the downtown area? That sucks.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Yeah, that's a downside to KU's loss: their fans were probably less likely to stay downtown after the game, especially if they often visit downtown anyway. I'm not sure how many Oregon fans were downtown, but there's probably a good chance KC's suburbs had more Oregon fans than those that were downt...

Re: Getting involved downtown

Number one on my list would probably be the downtown council. That's a good way of meeting other downtown residents and keeping up with downtown causes and events.

I'd also recommend the Downtown Neighborhood Association.

Re: Big 12 Tournament

It's too bad the state university that represents Kansas City is not in the tournament. Why? At this point, none of KC's 3 local universities are playing, but the tournament will still have great attendance, so I don't think KC is missing much. Are the fans using the streetcar system? KC has change...

Re: Big 12 Tournament

We better hope the state doesn't pass some bathroom bill because if they do, the tournament will certainly be gone. Where would they move it to? The open-minded states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, or West Virginia? Heck, even Iowa is a red state now. I guess they could move it to Colorado or Nevada ...

Re: How did Branson get a Ferris Wheel Before us?

Does the ferris wheel at Worlds of Fun count? That was probably there before Branson got theirs. So the joke's on Branson, really.

Can I ask you what the point is of excising an entire paragraph to reply to one sentence from it out of any other context? Sure. I assure you it's not to take anything you say out of context. Since the full context of your statements usually appear just one post above my response, it's not like I'm...

Re: Politics

What they're "not worried about" right now is losing money on the trades they're making -- that's it. Reading more than that into their decisions, or assuming that their decisions reflect some kind of deep insight into what's to come is baseless and silly. OK. This is deeply flawed reason...

Re: Politics

If there's one thing we've learned about bankers over the past decade it's that they're always looking ahead with the long game in mind. Yes, a lot of investors think in the short term and make knee-jerk reactions. But the Dow hit a record high after Trump became president. Maybe that was a positiv...

Re: Politics

That's quite a low bar to clear. Indeed. But look at the top two choices we had this past election. I dunno if it would reassure ATKC to point out that it is ok to reevaluate when new information comes in, so like a year from now if Trump has turned out to be a terrific president it's ok to say &qu...

That's pretty simplistic but we'll skip that discussion and get to the important part, which is what "things" do you think they're "sure of"? That we're not in World War III yet. This is really a cowardly answer. You're either in favor of the content of those "papers" ...

Re: Politics

Oh, so like the final 7 years and 10 months of his presidency? Yes. What investors hate is uncertainty. So the more sure they are of things, the more likely the stock market will go up. But the stability of the stock market isn't the only thing I use to judge how a president is doing. As far as Don...
