Re: Porchfest

Having to cross SW trafficway was kind of a pain. Maybe just have it all in roanoake next year would be better. Thought it was a little too spread out this year.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

The reason why I think the greenfield pitch is bad because we are going to have to bring workers in to make this work and a good majority will be young. Also a lot of Sunbelt cities are going to have huge greenfield spots and they are all going to have better transportation/airport options and a dee...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

What a fricking joke and disgrace they are pitching ugly/crap locations. I am really hoping Detroit or Chicago lands this 2nd HQ now and show these surban leaders what urban renewal is all about.

This city is snowflake central when it comes to anything promoting density or parking/acess

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The Threat of Kansas taking the airport should be an angle the city should play to sway voters. The Entire Northland would probably vote yes if that was the case.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

If the Airport vote fails, do you think there is a good chance that the airport moves to Kansas? I wish the city would play this angle, there is more at stake then just convenience, most of the hotels and restaurants and other businesses that have to do with the airport would all end up closing up a...

How do you find it different? I feel like KC pulls influences from all over the Midwest and even Dallas/OKC which aren't really in any kind of category

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

The Denver Hyperloop is very interesting to me because its not really connecting 2-3 huge cities, it possible people are thinking the Front Range could turn into one huge mega region. Cheap Housing in Pueblo + a $10-20 Ticket into your office in Denver could be very enticing to a lot of people. I co...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Bloomberg article suggests anonymous Amazon execs think Boston is the city to beat. HQ2 RFP may just be forcing Boston to offer up some big incentives. Is this really an open competition? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-12/amazon-is-said-to-weigh-boston-in-search-for-second-headquar...

Kind of odd this AP wire is out given many cities likely to compete. http://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/st-louis-kansas-city-plan-to-bid-for-amazon-headquarters/?utm_source=RSS&utm_medium=Referral&utm_campaign=RSS_nation-world Isn't the entire thing kind of odd and possibly a publicit...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

There is no way Boston, Toronto, DC, and in the other link NYC would make the cut, i just think the real estate is simply way to expensive to build something of this scale. Unless Amazon wants to build in Newark or Providence then it makes sense but Boston and NYC just seem unfeasible in my opinion....

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

So every reporter and their brother have put together a list this afternoon of potential cities for Amazon to consider in their relocation effort. KC is not on most of them. It is however on this one The only downside listed? The city has terrific internet connectivity, it has been nurturing tech s...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Other cities already have this stuff. They take the risk and invest for a future opportunity. People in KC seem to think it works the other way around. I'll let you in on a little secret- it doesn't. We really need to somehow expose our residents (or at least our leaders) to the fact that we are ba...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

If its just going to be more of an Operational HQ I Could really see us getting this but wonder if they are looking for cities where the gov't owns a lot of land that they can just give it Amazon to start building. What cities would be the most ideal place? I think the Twin Cities would make an idea...
