Re: Next Mayor 2019

I'm on flyer number 9 from Jolie. Should I say something to her? It seems like a huge waste of money

Re: Should Rockfest be banned from Penn Valley Park?

Is this even a thing anymore? I noticed there hasn't been anything on the 98.9 website or any kind of countdown, is Rockfest finally dead in KC? You would think something would have been announced by now

Re: Uptown Theatre district improvements

I live in the neighborhood and rarely went to the Arts Bar. I hated the atmosphere. I really thought Uptown Arts bar was cool because you had all kinds of different walks of life in the place but the overall set up and atmosphere did kind of suck, there wasn't a whole lot of money put into the plac...

Re: Uptown Theatre district improvements

I don't think it would work because KC doesn't have the Charm or Character of a place like New Orleans

Uptown Arts bar is closing and reopening with a new owner https://www.thepitchkc.com/news/article/21060309/uptown-arts-bar-has-closed-in-midtown-kc-john-scott-of-green-lady-lounge-is-taking-over-operations I think its a mistake if it rebrands into something else like as a jazz only club or something...

Re: Union Hill Development

Would be nice to see that stretch of Gillham go through a road diet, with diagonal parking spaces along the west side in front of the Union Hill retail. I think that would A) provide additional, visible parking right directly in front of the retail, B) make clear that there is in fact a significant...

Re: Westport

Freebirds and Pie Five both sucked and they both had terrible workers - I think the Single Serving Pizza in 5 minutes Boom is kind of settling down. I know that pizza place by KU Med called Topp'd (Similar to Pie Five) shut down a few months ago. Spin Pizza seems to be the most successful of any in ...

Hopefully its not a Crab Boil place like the 2 on Broadway. We have hit peak Crab Boils in less than a year.

I’ve gotten the same glossy flier from Justus the last five days straight in the mail. If repeat messaging is effective, she’ll win the election hands down.
I have gotten about 5 of these flyers as well, why would they do this, it makes me not want to vote for her now

Re: Academie Lafayette

I didn't realize they were offering elementary at the Brookside location now. So is it K-3 at either location, 4-5 in Brookside and 6-8(+) at the old Derrick Thomas? Anyone know if that is the plan indefinitely? Is the High School starting next year? Citizens of the World is also putting their 6th ...

Re: Academie Lafayette

The general atmosphere inside AL inside AL is very well structured from what I've seen. Kids aren't running wild and out of control. Class sizes are great. 22-25 per class I believe. Parent Engagement seems is great but tends to be more focused with the brookside families. For example most of the ni...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Glad they had it too - because while their beer is good quality - you're either drinking a fruity/sour/champagne thing or a heavily hopped pale/IPA. For my personal taste, I'd like to see some of these new places actually craft a friggin' brown/amber ale that's not hopped to death - and maybe mix i...

Re: Brookside

I feel like the school has great diversity in K and 1st grade. I think when it gets more difficult, parents who don't have the resources decide to pull the students and go to another charter. U have to help your kids at this school. We pay for tutoring twice a week for English reading cause the rule...

Re: Brookside

Academie Lafayette will have a high school so we are looking like we will stay all the way, maybe you can get into that school. Our kids love the school and I am very happy with it we're in the AL (and crossroads) kindergarten lottery, allegedly will find out tomorrow whether we got in. as an AL pa...

Forbes Grill is not horrible, they run some nice specials. They do a 11.95 all you can eat brunch which is a good deal One place I don't understand why its so popular is Summit Grill, i know its in Waldo, but I feel like they draw a lot of people from Brookside and PV. I guess maybe the menu is kind...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

I am gonna say that Rockafire closes by October. The place is usually dead on a Saturday and the overall atmosphere kind of sucks. Guess they closed in February. Why is that spot so bad? Nothing ever lasts in that building Rockafire was a poor experience. The ambience was nonexistent. A lot of the ...
