GregHall: Why KK has taken this stance I do not know. Jealousy? Bitterness? Those would be two good guesses.

Re: KC STAR Layoffs?

Two casualties of the Kansas City Star’s latest layoffs and cutbacks: Local section columnists Mike Hendricks and Steve Penn. The pair were called in last Friday and told their three columns a week would be pared to two. Worse yet, their paychecks would similarly be reduced by a third. Penn seems t...

Re: KC STAR Layoffs?

The post office will always exist becasue certain mail needs to be in paper form (certified, signatures, etc etc).  People also like getting a birthday card in the mail more than on email.  I don't send a lot over the mail anymore but I send enough that can't be done on a computer.

People die by all sorts of means.  If you were in control (and thank god you're not), everything in America would be "free".  You know - in the name of protecting us all.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008

Not as big a fall to obscurity as USF - 2 ncaa titles and one of the best players of all time is apparently not enough to guarantee permenant relevance.  You said it - they got their titles for one reason.  Too bad Wilt couldn't even get us one.   By the way, how sweet is this pic of Russell in col...

Re: The Health Care Debate

Life is often dependent on health care. That's why emergency care is available to all citizens.  Besides, your argument could be applied to anything .  Should grocery stores offer free food & drink to anyone who walks in?  Gotta eat to live!    Should clothing stores give out free shirts - hey ...

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008

Interesting chart.  2 things jump out:  (1) hardly any hoops success South of the Mason-Dixon line.  Without Florida's wins this decade, they've basically contribued a giant goose egg to college hoops.  Odd given that they are so dominant in football. (2) Tons of history in the UNC-Duke corridor - b...

Well, it may not have as much relevance as your 1912 citation of Teddy Roosevelt, but I'm trying my best.

18th & Broadway Community Garden + Housing

The only place KC needs condo buildings right now is the 3 parcels that border P&L on the South.  That's it.  I'd think when the economy turns around in a few years those will be the first to get done.

I don't know what the name of the mixed-use development just to the West of Cornerstone (would have condos and shops, etc....Phoenix based company & SW style maybe?)....so I'd put this here.  The sign is still up and there are weeds & tall grass everywhere.  The mall down the street (Corbin)...

Re: Yankees to build new stadium

Did you get mobbed by tix scalpers the moment you stepped off the subway?   I was attacked by 5 who jumped in my face when I held up 2 fingers.   And the first guy who reached me turned back to the others and started screaming "GET BACK!  DIS MY CUS-TA-MER!"   So much for the free market, ...

Re: The Health Care Debate

If you need to buy car insurance to drive, then you need to buy health insurance to visit the hospital.  There is no such thing as a "right", other than life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness.

Re: Yankees to build new stadium

I went years ago, 2000ish, and the seats we were in were literally broken.  And leaning heavily to one side when you sat on it.  When I went to the bathroom, it smelled horrible and some guy was urinating on the ground in the stall next to me.  The whole place was disgusting. I was totally disappoin...

It's bad enough that the Texas schools are now in "our" conference....why in the heck would we want "our" conference championship played in their state?   I'd rather see it stay in KC, or indoors in StL where it was originally played, if more favorable, consistent weather condit...

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008

So everyone saw that Mizzou was ranked higher at the end of the season in both football AND basketball?  Us Tiger fans measure most of our progress in terms of beating Kansas, and not really anyone else  Dude, you're not kidding. As for the Memphis question:  they have the best defense in the...

Re: Talk of anchoring Big 12 championships

Getting football in Dallas on a full time basis should sweeten the pot for the southern schools.  It's basically a home game every year for the southern team but I think the northern schools would accept the trade-off to get the basketball tourney in KC permanently. Maybe, maybe not.  KU is definit...

You're the worst poster on the sports board now.  I don't even know what sent you into this rage during the past week, but I think it's obvious you've stopped taking your medication.  MD doesn't post anything outrageous...just his opinions like the rest of us.  Most of the time it's pretty civil......

I think some of you spend way too much time on forums like this.  I would guess that for many of these posters, this is only one forum. I would guess that MD is all over the internet all the time.  This is his entertainment.  Logging onto to forums all day and night talking about KU.  I don’t get i...
