Re: Yael: Downtown is growing, but suburbs growing faster
Let me help Yael out. Kansas City in Clay and Platte County grew from a total of 118,697 people in 2000 to 157,091, an increase of 38,394, as he mentioned. But why did he only mention the total number of people, not just the population increase, for downtown? Based on this, Kansas City north of the...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
any US notary will do! just make sure their commission isn't expired. in the first election we even had someone overseas during the mail-in window, so we found out that most embassies have US notary publics on hand. also, voting absentee by mail in missouri requires your ballot be notarized. Great,...

Wallstreet Tower Condo for Lease
Hello All- Long-story short, after 7 great years of living at Wallstreet Tower, I will be moving soon. I love the property and would like to keep the option of coming back someday, so I plan to lease the condo. It is one of the 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath units, 1520 square feet. For those not familiar, t...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
If you are going to put in a short streetcar line as a starter, you could not ask for a better route than proposed in the one being voted on Tuesday. The tax increase for the Streetcar is being voted on by mail in ballot, which was just mailed this past week for those that requested one and are due...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
I was finally able to register my unit at WST this morning. I think they are making progress towards getting every unit into the system.
Central Business District still has a ways to go, so if you are in a multi-unit building, encourage property manager and residents to get their unit registered!

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
Most of our building still can't register, still just the first floor. I've talked to Google about every other day and they are saying it's the data is provided by KCMO and they have to correct what the City gave them. An engineering firm under contract with Google Fiber is ,as of this week, callin...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
Just an update: Spoke with someone at Google Fiber today and they are still correcting the multi-family building issue. They are getting a ton of requests and they are just backed up right now. So, if you live in a multi-family building, make sure you or your property manager reach out to someone at...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Dave- I will be voting Yes for this, but can you clarify what property tax cost is to RESIDENTIAL owners in the district? The Star had figures, but they didn't make sense. They said something like 70 cents for every $100 of assessed value but then said it would be like $266 on a $200,000 condo, whi...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
Spoke with someone from Google. If you live downtown in condo/apt, go ahead and register your individual unit #. It will say it can't find your address, and then ask you to "submit a request". You'll enter in a little more info, and there is room to send a comment. I would let them know yo...

Re: Rosanna Square to focus on nightlife
I remember in the 1980s, going to some "hot" disco in a strip mall somewhere in the Merriam, Shawnee, Overland Park strip of I-35. I can't for the life of me think of the name of it though. I was living in Columbia at the time, and my sister was living in the Northland, and she took me an...

Re: Pop-up restaraunt coming to 18th and Grand
Just wanted to say I enjoyed this event over the weekend. Food was excellent and the experience was great. And the wine pours were just right;) Much improved! All in all, a great time. The space was not quite as intimate, but that is alright. Wasn't my favorite venue, but Chef Alex was awesome and t...

Re: Pop-up restaraunt coming to 18th and Grand
We're getting ready to open another pop up next week and I'm hoping to solicit some feedback from anyone who attended last time. This is a continually evolving project and I want to make the experience as special as possible so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. Alex Pope my boyfriend and i...

Re: Crosstown Station - 1522 McGee
Oh I agree, to an extent. I would way rather see office/commercial/residential, etc. My point was just don't expect it to be a soup kitchen/homeless shelter, as some were worried about. It will be more of a full functioning church. So, there probably won't be a ton of activity during the week, which...

Re: Crosstown Station - 1522 McGee
If it makes anyone feel better, the church buying this site has a HUGE congregation of about 20,000 people in South Leawood. Deep pockets, and very committed to community service. They were looking for a true downtown church, not a soup kitchen or community center. I'm sure they will do some things ...

Re: renovate hanna, demolish lane... are we still doing this
If I read the article correctly, it appears they are knocking the Lane Building down with the potential to build another 3 story building in it's place if demand warrants.
That is how I read it. Could be mistaken.
