Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Where Gucci was and I guess Velvet Vines is right now use to be a drugstore. I believe it was a Rexall drug. It survived a long time at that location but as plaza rents started climbing, they could not sell enough inexpensive drugstore product to justify the higher rents. I do not see this changing ...

It was just a rudimentary calculation whith no time to sit and do all of the math. No need to be a dick about it but thanks for figuring it out to the last 70 cents. Should never have to sit down and figure numbers when there's free spreadsheet software available to do it for you. Enter $250k in A1...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Ffs - why can we not just call it Kansas City international airport. I beg you, I plead. That makes the most sense. Lose the MCI moniker. Naming the terminal after MLK is a bad idea that could backfire. MLK was born in Atlanta and grew up in the south and most of his life was spent in the south oth...

There was some speculation that this project would restart in April. Is there any action? Has the crane returned?

So when can groundbreaking be expected? I remember some pretty ambitious goals for getting the new terminal into operation.

Re: Prariefire at Lionsgate - large mixed use development

Apparently their Museum isn't doing all that well. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article211093119.html Not a place I would consider going but I could see how JoCo school kids would love it. But it shows how difficult it is to make a go at it with an un-endowed museum in the burbs with no taxp...

You don't _need_ HQs to fill up hotel rooms but helps. I kind of agree with this statment. Take a look at the Twin Cities. They have tons of huge powerful companies like 3M, General Mills, Cargill, Best Buy, Polaris, United Healthcare and they are all scatered in suburban areas all over the twin ci...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

You all are going to have to do a lot of work convincing me about more downtown parks. I lived downtown for years, and saw little to convince me that there is a huge demand for downtown parks. Most of them are not used at all, and now another big one (4 blocks) is being proposed for the I-670 cap p...

5 and 5 in the last 10 games. Remarkably, that's the best in the AL Central over the last 10. Out of last place too. The central is bad enough that it almost gives one hope a subpar Royal's team could find a way to win the division.

Re: Three Light

Speaking of Nashville, they just voted down their huge light rail plan. I was really surprised by that. Huge setback for the city. They are on their way to becoming the Denver upper south. But not if they don't improve their transit. Why are you surprised? It may be growing but it's still a pretty ...

Re: The Midwest Is Booming—Just Not Where You Think

Not so good for urbanism, the article says that affordable single family housing is the key factor. The biggest problem with urban housing is that it's expensive. Sometimes ridiculously so compared to what is offered in the burbs. While that's the case in most cities in the US, I am surprised it is...

Re: Sprint sale rumors again

Yeah, with mergers like this they're just after the customers. The "synergy" will come from getting rid of Kansas City and combining it all into TMobile operations. It may be just words for now but Overland Park will be a "second" HQ according to the Star article. That might be ...

Bars in an entertainment district against a public transportation plan is about as cynical and irresponsible as it gets. Yea, lets put more drunks out on the road.

I am not certain that the apparent clarity with which 1970s era republicans were able to view Nixon's misdeeds is possible today. While the partisanship seems about equally toxic, there were not an infinite number of sycophantic blogs, podcasts, YouTube personalities, fake news propaganda factories...

35% of Americans will support whoever is on their team. It's all about "winning". That's a function of extreme partisan politics. My memory may not be that great when it comes to politics but it seems like that is a relatively recent phenomena. A Trump or Greitens 30 year years ago would ...

So he maybe took some pictures, did some rapey things, possibly blackmailed a woman and also could have engaged in felony tampering to solicit campaign donations. Sounds downright presidential to me. Absolutely, I'm sure Trump is wondering why he didn't think of political advertisements like these....

See California's efforts. What's happening in California will be interesting. The last time part of a state seceded from ...

I think it's up to the people who live along it. I bet most of the people who have complained about the name change on the Star's comments, facebook, ect, had never even heard of the paseo before this idea was put forward. Even if they had heard of it, how many years has it been since they were on ...
