Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

Only 9 townhomes are now planned. The 'bus barn' on the west side of McGee which was originally to be demolished for a second grouping of townhomes is now planned to be renovated into an indoor/outdoor restaurant space with large garage door openings. They've brought on Hufft architects for this co...

Re: Berlin - Europe

It is amazing how fast they rebuilt cities like Berlin, Frankfurt, and Dresden after WWII, and how much investment was required. They were devastated and in 40 years were rebuilt. It took almost 10 years to clear the rubble alone. Forty years ago was 1978, and KC has blocks all over our central cit...

So are there 4 cranes up in KC downtown right now?

1) This building
2) Arterra
3) New Convention Hotel - someone said it was going up early
4) development immediately south of Crown center

Re: Slovenia for 7 nights

This August we decided to cash in some airline miles to fly to Europe, the trip starts in Venice but we are completely skipping Venice due to expensive hotel costs and hoards of tourists so we turned our attention to Trieste, Croatia and the Istria Pennisula. We were pumped for Croatia but then out...

Re: Xroads James Beard District

Looking forward to the new MS concept, and still enjoy Extra Virgin. Extremely disappointing that the prominent old corner space will be used for "events". We've gotta be approaching peak "event space" in the xroads, right? Yes, that's very disappointing. I've thought that block...

Re: Berlin - Europe

Berlin is the capital of a large country with a very successful economy so they have the in-place driver to redevelop the city and the situation is probably unique in the world in that way. Unfortunately, KC doesn't have the economic drivers that can produce anything close to the frenzy of activity ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I'm not sure KC is generally open minded to urban diversity enough to have a major transit center near the plaza. I mean, I know people that live in the urban core of the city would be fine with it, but the average person from the suburbs will not like the general element that will come with a tran...

Re: OFFICIAL - 909 Walnut

Weren't parts of this building being sold as Condos from the very beginning? I remember looking at units there just after it opened and I seem to remember they were condos. And the penthouse that incorporates each tower at the top has gotten a lot of press through time as a condo.

Re: Proctor & Gamble will close KCK plant

Kansas should have been targeting Proctor and Gamble with Star bonds to keep that factory open at the expense of some other factory some where else. Instead they work on attracting a south KCMO company to move 6 blocks. I'm sad about this - one of KC's old manufacturers is leaving. Couple that with ...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Kansas scores a victory in the border war that, apparently, isn't over. One of the few they have had lately. http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article198872644.html Instead of offering this company a fortune to move a few blocks (literally), they should have been talking with Procte...

My insurance is up to date.....I will support Freshwater. I guess the food is good. Would make a great last meal. Eat quickly and survive!! Actually, the article in the Star said the owner was putting barricades up to at least lessen the risk of a recurrence of the incident that shut him down. I su...

Photobucket

I've noticed all my photobucket links are broken. I store photos on the site but not enough to have to pay. Went into the site recently and saw that they are now charging ~$300 per year for 3rd party hosting. Any suggestions for an alternative? I backup my photos at home but would like some posting ...

On a side note, does anyone know where the Hereford Association is moving? 11500 N.W. Ambassador Dr., Suite. 410 According to their website. So, the Northland suburbs. Hate losing real businesses downtown. But at least they are still in KCMO (several KC based associations have hopped across state l...

It sounds like the western part of the movie theater, the B of A, old Blanc Burger space and Capital Grill are gone replaced with Nordstrom. I assume lower parking entrance and some spaces will be gone too. CG will move to old Willians Sonoma space which is a much better location. I hear its actual...
