Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

If she doesn't want anyone asked her questions about the public things she does, or who injured themselves on "her" property suing her for damages, then maybe she shouldn't have "her" property on top of city/public property while creating a fuss about the way the city uses it's ...

Re: Sprint sale rumors again

Looking like TMobile/Sprint will target announcing an intended merger by October. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/09/report-t-mobile-sprint-finally-figuring-out-this-merger-thing/ TMobile CEO may lead the combined company, which could be bad news for KC unless they realize how m...

Absolutely a great idea. KC residents are only a subset of airport uses perhaps not even a plurality.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

I love the ideal of pursuing Amazon but it might be a case of being careful what you wish for. 50,000 new jobs landing in KC overnight would put a lot of stress on just about every part of the KC economy. Housing costs would skyrocket and a lot of crap would be put up quickly. The local service and ...

In what capacity do they suggest? Just wondering how you re-purpose an airport terminal and keep the new use compatible with the on-the-tarmac airport location.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

So what is the extent of the capping that we are talking about here? Ideally, I'd like to see it from Bartle Hall all the way east to include the block just south of the Sprint Center. That is a wide swath and I doubt if Cordish would have much interest in the entire area. The block south of the Spr...

Re: Houston 2015

The economy will not only be affected by companies that consider moving out of the Houston area, but also companies that will decide not to relocate there in the future, or expand their employment base if they are already there. This may not have so much to do with whether their building was affect...

Moustakas seems to be stalled at 35 homers. It would be really crazy if he finished the season with 35 after being on the verge of breaking Balboni's record for a couple of months. Perhaps he has gotten to the brink and is just trying too hard to hit #36?

This project seems stalled. They have pulled all construction equipment out. The first two buildings have been up for some time now and there are no signs of starting the next phase at all. There is no way they are on their original schedule to build out the campus in 10-12 years (including the fir...

LOL. this is why this is the show-me state. People keep saying this, but my experience suggests that empirical evidence is less likely to persuade Missourians than people in other places. "Show-Me" is actually synonymous with being stubborn. I've heard it used in that context more than be...

I have several friends that did not have insurance and had 8' of water in their homes - needless to say, they stand to lose a lot. I can't imagine 8 feet of water. If you're in a single story home and water got 8 feet high that's basically a complete rebuild of the house down to the studs. There's ...

Re: Houston 2015

Another problem that Houston has is that many parts of the metro area are sinking. Neighborhoods that were built decades ago have sunk several feet, and are now flooding when in the past they didn't. This is because much of the water used in Houston comes from pumping ground water out of the aquife...

Highlander, any word if your previous residence got hit? I don't think so, I lived in the burbs on relative high ground (albeit nothing is very high in Houston) and former neighbors I chatted with didn't have any appreciable flooding other than on the street and the lawns. Still, it would not have ...

Multiply by four. That's what a billion dollars of future tax revenues bought us. For a billion dollars, KC could have built them a very nice set of garages for a downtown or midtown location that would not have been a boon to Lees Summit and Overland Park like the current location is AND still hav...
