Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
STL Cardinals will ask the local and/state government for over $500 million to renovate Busch Stadium. No shot they get their second round (after 2006) of state funding package for a stadium whilst KC can't even get it's first one still. You can thank the mayor for the state treating us like their ...

Re: Best Local Trails
A nice video summation of the Woodchuk Run trail in Swope Park. Very scenic area with Ozark-like outcrops and pretty rugged terrain. Extremely underutilized part of the park used mostly by mountain bike riders. Spring would be a great time to do this trail when the foliage allows some nice views - n...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Where does said bartender work? That has been an ongoing rumor for such a long time. A bit hard to buy at this point. Yeah. Based on what I know it’s not true at all. Even if the area wasn’t still being considered for a stadium, it would still be a stretch for Targets typical urban development. It ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
Can't wait for an actual ped connection. That main street bridge is cool as an overlook but sucks for connection. The other option through Columbus park is dangerous and almost unusable. Where is the pedestrian connection going to be? What option do you have from Columbus Park? Walking down Guinott...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the Royals play well against the Mets and White Sox (next 6 games), the stands better be more full for the home stand against the Orioles. You don't know our pain as Royals fans. We are bitter fucks and will not believe they're winners until after the All Star break. I'd be happy to make it out ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I don’t have the authority to share the information. Not that it’s relevant but my own anecdotal experience is most people just wanted a better, more organized plan along with more information. The save the crossroads noise was loud for sure but not in the top 3 factors for why this failed. I also ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It would be wrong to keep the Royals at TSC. Even with a streetcar connection, the suburban minded folks would still control what happens by demanding parking remain, practically eliminating the Royals chances of a mixed-use development next to the stadium. Building on the other side of 70 is not s...

Floors 3-10 put up for lease. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1301-Main-St-Kansas-City-MO/31458092/ That's more than half the whole building! This is also why you focus on housing instead of trying to entice businesses back to the urban core. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/the-ceo-of-h-r...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Royals draw just fie when they are respectable. Not losing 90+ games. We stay on the pace we have set so far this season you will have near sellouts on the weekends by June. Biggest problem is over the last 30 years we are either in the playoffs or losing 90+ games, with a lot more of the latte...

Best Website For KC Events?
Any ideas on what is the best and most comprehensive website for KC events? Events that would include classical music, jazz, any music, plays, musicals, festivals etc..... Have some friends coming in town and it would be nice to have a comprehensive website so I do not have to go to every venue I kn...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Back to political nonsense posts, too bad. I'm quite sure PD can withstand and even understand why those comments were being made. Nobody hates bad cops worse than gold cops. Violence on the Plaza is a very real issue that impacts the health of the Plaza specifically, the neighborhood around it and...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
They should hire a political advisor that’s worked with a famous democrat so they don’t instantly become a target like what happened last time. “Oh they hired a guy who worked for Desantis, he must be evil I don’t like it blah blah”. Maybe just avoid the political affiliations all together. Politic...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Even if both East Village and East Crossroads are off the table, for whatever reason, there are still downtown sites that are better than both of those IMO. Whether the Royals want to explore those, I don't know, but I also don't know why East Crossroads would be off the table. The Royals need to h...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Would it follow the East and South or would it follow Central? Could those precincts narrowly lost flip to be in-favor? Would a KCMO-only vote lead to higher turnout in the central core and outweigh votes elsewhere? Does anyone really believe that downtown and midtown residents are against the conc...

You know I thought about that a while back. Access and isolation would be the problem but I think the site could be big enough - for the stadium and nothing more.Midtownkid wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 3:08 pm Could be a badass perch for the Royals Stadium. Access would not be too easy tho.

Re: FBI Campus
FBI moving to the northland per cityscene Was up at KCI today. Noticed the new FBI building. Looks like another government fortress. It looked up and running or about to be (Google Maps still lists the DT location as FBI HQ). Any idea what will become of the current FBI offices downtown? That area ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I wonder if the continued security issues at the Plaza are giving any pause to the Dallas firm that is buying the shopping center? It's a pretty big issue as it impacts the public's confidence in their own security and hence patronage. Especially at night. They have to be wondering how they can cont...

Slowly being enclosed. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53634297697_200e0d628e_h.jpg Great picture showing the relative scale of this project. Pretty substantial in terms of the area it covers and height. Hope it doesn't stay sealed for long and they finish or sell to someone that can. Perpetual...

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge
Probably the wrong spot for this but didn't they recently open the southbound I-35 entrance off the north loop at the south end of the Buck O'Neil Bridge? I swore I drove this just a few weeks ago. I was coming back from the northland yesterday and decided to go this direction because it's generall...
