Deep foundations going in.
So past the demolition phase and into the early parts of construction? Great news. Looking forward to watching this go up. Get my first opportunity to see it at Christmas when flying in to KC.

Re: Attention regional businesses

^ This would not be a big deal if it were just a year or two, but most cities have been adding downtown office buildings constantly for years. Like Pittsburgh, these stats are after the city has already built some new large towers. Even lowly Baltimore has been putting up office space a couple of t...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

The riverfront line to casino seems to be highest probability of happening. So stadium could work along the line. Maybe even a stadium/casino? Where the casino has views of the field, hotel too? Maybe lame but possibly most doable. And garages at Paseo for games could be used for daily downtown P&R...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Moving stadium downtown might help the after game experience but no longer really needed as a downtown booster. Downtown needs to continue building up momentum that doesn't rely on events. A highly functioning downtown doesn't rely on events. The momentum is there but doubling residential populatio...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, how much space is needed for a baseball stadium? Fenway seems to have a very small footprint in Boston. It couldn't be more than a couple of city blocks. There are two city blocks directly north of the Sprint Center that are almost entirely unused right now (between Oak and Grand/12th - 13th). I...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably good thing this closed quickly. Delays or lingering may have caused higher bids from outsiders and MLB might have pressured Glass to consider them. I'm a little concerned over the price tag. At a billion dollars, it could put financial pressure on the ownership group and the small market c...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Many of the suggestions are not really downtown (e.g, 18th/Vine, West Bottoms). To really get the benefit of being downtown, there are only a few options available. Looking at the footprint of Kaufman stadium, it would fit in the East Village area, possibly the north loop and in the area just east o...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Unfortunately, the old season ticket holder base love The K. They were the ones who squashed the idea of a downtown stadium last time before the renovation and I doubt their minds have changed since then. I myself would love a downtown stadium but unfortunately most of Kansas City is run by people ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

shouldn't experiences like Sprint Center events get people more comfortable? That's probably the case for many but I still see a lot of opposition in comments sections every time the subject comes up. Now it could be a serious question again. I'd like to know what areas of downtown Sherman is think...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

People will just complain about parking and traffic. I actually find it easier to park and exit out of a Cardinals or Twins game than it is at a Royals game. In St Louis, you can park easily over by 14th and Clarke and the Freeway ramp is right there. There are also lots of spots south of the stadi...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I like the renderings. Reminds me a bit of one of my favorite airports in the world, particularly the ceiling and openness.

Because already have locations in area.
Yea, that's the reason.

On second thought, given the plaza's leasing as of late (which include a mattress store), you could be right.

Entertainment, with food, scratch kitchen, rendering features a round logo. Hard Rock Cafe anyone? 10-15 years ago, that would have been considered a premier tenant. But does anybody still go to HRC's any more? The last few times I've walked past one, it's been near empty. I am not sure why t...

Re: T-Bones where should they move in area

Lots of cities have a small independent ball team in the suburbs. St Paul Saints are really successful Indy ball team That's a metro of over 4 million people. The Royal's struggle (23rd in attendance in 2018, 27th thus far in 2019) and the Tbones are competition for the limited sports dollars in th...

Re: T-Bones where should they move in area

Because been evicted. Evicted because they are over $760,000 in debt for failing to pay rent and utilities. Why would another city spend tens of millions of dollars to build a new stadium if they aren't succeeding in a fairly new stadium? They should move to Topeka I was kind of hoping this meant t...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I wonder if crime will drop a bit since the movie theater has closed? I've wondered if that was the motivation for closing the theater. But Shake Shack I think would attract a lot of teenagers as well. The new owners do not seem to have any real strategy for the Plaza. Not one that is easily discer...

I like Tucson and hate Phoenix. How was your flight departing Sky Harbor? Last time I arrived/departed there it was very rough and I was told they have some unique weather that makes that happen quite often. Arrival was smooth but that was 6 AM. Departing was a lot rougher at 6:30 PM. I expected as...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

According to this , average Plaza rent jumped from $20 to $30 sqft in just the last year or so. Some mainstream retailers can handle it but probably not many locals. With retail landscape changing it's time to give the Plaza a major overhaul with a broader mixed-use purpose. The new Plaza owners ha...
