Re: OFFICIAL - Crossroads Hotel (2107 Central)

The Lazia grand opening is a tad delayed. They called needing to cancel our Friday night reservations. So we will be trying out XR instead.

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Wow, potential plan for 520 E Armour looks great. Can't tell from those images if ground floor retail is planned but I certainly hope so - that stretch of Armour desperately needs additional retail to really come alive, IMO, even with the planned space at Armour/Troost. Love the scale and what look...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

The application for 520 E Armour has been submitted to CPC, so it looks like this is being split off from Armour and Troost Development. I think they are going to have a tough time getting this through as it is currently proposed. Much of the focus had been on Armour and Troost, but I think there i...

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

I was looking at some older renderings of this project and was a bit confused by the scope. So it will encompass the Midwest Hotel Building, the now vacant lot to the north (new construction), a one story restaurant on the lot to the south, and from the renderings, it appears the entire lot behind ...

Re: OFFICIAL - ARTerra (21st and Wyandotte)

Calling it cinder blocks is hyperbole. I get that some may not like the tan colored brick, especially compared to the misleading rendering. I'm more concerned with the cheap looking balconies. The renderings showed solid/wrapped balconies (similar to 1914 Main) with a random pattern of solid sides o...

Re: OFFICIAL - ARTerra (21st and Wyandotte)

Stop using that word. Cinder blocks, aka CMUs (concrete masonry units) are 8"x16" blocks made with fly ash. They are light grey, the same color as concrete. They are not standard brick size, 2-1/4"x8", as seen on ARTerra. They are not tan colored.

Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust

I can't speak for Lenexa, but I was recently at the two new food halls in New Orleans, Pythian Market and Auction House Market. Parlor is definitely a notch above those trendy spots. Both of those NOLA spots have some equally top-notch food options and Auction House particularly is a really nice sp...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

Does anyone know what's up with 718 Grand? Years ago there was an announced residential conversion of the garage that never happened. Lately the building has been fenced off and some repair(?) work is being done. No permits that I can see on the parcel viewer. Last time I walked by I viewed it from ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I haven't checked permits. Does anyone know what's going in immediately south of this? (Where city barrel brewing was originally slated). Workers have been there past couple of weeks. It's been gutted, all old storefront removed, and today I could see a concrete pump truck on site.

Re: Google Maps renames neighborhoods, residents fume

Is 'Forgotten Homes' (just east of Paseo West) real?
No one calls the riverfront 'Columbus Park Industrial'

An aside: I would like broad acceptance of 'The Hills', which is what I call the area incorporating the neighborhoods of Hospital Hill, Beacon Hill, Longfellow (Dutch Hill), and Union Hill.

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

Not to mention that hotel development is booming (by KC standards) and there are one or more projects underway that received no TIF incentives. Another comparison: the dual flag Courtyard/Residence Inn on Baltimore is 261 rooms + garage on 1.2 acres, 10 stories. No incentives on that one if I rememb...

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

I am not mixed. No thanks. This is a 2.6 acre site according to the parcel viewer. They are proposing 242 rooms, 5000 sf meeting space, and a 176 space garage. Meanwhile, the new Drury Plaza Hotel in Nashville is on a 0.6 acre site, 392 rooms, 9287 sf meeting space, and a 312 space garage. The Nashv...

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

Owner reportedly raising the rents a lot, leading to the immediate departure of Gould Evans and eventual departure of Tivoli when their lease is up. Last I heard, Gould Evans was moving into 4200 Pennsylvania, the stone building catty-corner from the building housing Ca Va. I remember a previous ar...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Is Abbott Properties offices moving to another location? I remember at one point there was talk of a five-story office at 1616 Grand (and two parcels north of it) but that seems to be off the table since the three-story historic brick structure is actually being renovated (for an event-space I think...
