Re: The KC City Flag

The fountains should go. Does anyone really think of our hometown as the 'City of Fountains' anymore? To me, it sounds like a contrived idea thought up by the Convention and Visitors bureau in the 70s or 80s. My incredibly amazing idea: http://kcrag.com/download/file.php?avatar=273_1504008919.png It...

Re: OFFICIAL - 46 Penn Centre

Block Real Estate Services will break ground Monday for what Managing Principal Ken Block thinks will become “the icon of Kansas City.” “When Monday Night Football is in New York City, their camera crews go shoot the Empire State Building,” Block said. “But when they come here, hopefully this is th...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Back in August, Kevin Collison reported that the developer planned the townhomes AND the hotel tower: He plans to build six townhouses along Wyandotte next to existing townhouses developed by the late Tom Trabon. That work is expected to begin this winter. His grandest plan calls for a 12-story comb...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

We are obsessed with building residences feet from bridges! It looks like an office use to me. Taller floor-to-floor. Open floor plans. There are no walls to be seen. I have no idea what this is. There's no real info on the architect's website, though it was grouped with another rendering they did ...

Re: Troost developments

I've been told that Andrew Brain sold his land at 25th & Troost to another developer. I don't know what this means for the planned $120 million twin high-rise project, but I'm guessing it will take a much different (less ambitious) form.

Re: West 39th Street Apartments

As someone who lives off of 39th, I couldn't disagree more. I avoid the intersections of 39th/SW Trfy at all costs, especially during rush hour because traffic builds up for blocks. Maybe if 39th had designated left turn lanes and a single thru lane it could be accomplished, but right now its a clu...

Re: renovate hanna, demolish lane... are we still doing this?

Is pressuring them to sell or take care of securing the building not possible? the development proposal is sweet. i'm willing to part with the lane as long as it doesn't become a surface lot. Just how tall we talkin'? :) Man, it better be good and come to fruition. Even in it's current state, the L...

Re: OFFICIAL - Corrigan Building

The existing curb-cut on Main remains to access a small covered parking area. I'm not arguing that it is needed, but I think that 'feature' has been evident in every version of renderings that we've seen, so it shouldn't be a surprise. I'm guessing the building height reflects the owner's desire to ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Corrigan Building

does anyone have any idea of when phase II of this project is supposed to break ground? I just heard from someone involved with the project last evening. It will be starting soon, but will be one floor shorter than the rendering shows (two stories, I think they mentioned a rooftop space as well)......

Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas is another good example. It's pretty much the same size-- a 3 block long capped interstate greenspace.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I can't say for certain, but it looks like something might be happening with 516 Grand. It's a single parcel that has two attached one-story brick buildings and an empty lot between them. I don't see any permits on the parcel viewer, but the Block & Co. listing (sign attached to the bldg) doesn...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hilton Home2 Suites Hotel (20th & Main)

There is no stucco on the building, actually. It is a half-inch thick brick veneer that is snapped on, then they come back later and fill in the grout. It's a cheaper alternative to using real bricks, though not as bottom-barrel as the stucco "bricks" on the upper levels of the new Courtya...
