Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'm excited to try these out, but are helmets really legally mandatory and enforced? That will keep our household from using this. My wife and I don't have helmets and don't plan on purchasing any for a three to five minute ride.

Re: Westside happenings

17 Madison project finally starts this week, according to family members living in the neighborhood. Tree branches have already been chopped off prior to removal, to be followed by demo of existing building on site. https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/development/to3ddi/picture105924512/alterna...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Minor complaints, but: Do they do training 'refresher' sessions for existing operators? Most operators are top-notch, but there is one our household refers to as 'ol hurky-jerky lead-foot. Lead-wrist, I guess is accurate. They accelerate in tiny bursts, like a car driver who tap, tap, taps on the ga...

Re: 1800 Walnut

This sounds great. I'm a neighbor and would be supportive of this. Sounds like this may be roughly the same height as Corrigan Station on the same or neighboring block. Not sure why neighbors would be opposed. ARTerra met resistance but the massing seems to fit in well. Maybe a 500+ footer office to...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

that place will never move, she loves that space. I dropped in last night and the place was rockin. Truly one of the hippest spots in town and doesn't feel like KC. Hey, I was there on Friday night as well! The ATM only has a $1 service fee, so there's no need to plan ahead for having cash on hand.

Re: Whole Foods mixed-use project @ 51/Oak

We checked it out opening day. This is hands down the best grocery in the city. Our household was already nearly exclusive WF shoppers, and this raises the bar. Makes the newish one in Olathe look wanting. This one is every bit as nice as the new one in Lake View, Chicago (intersection of Belmont, &...

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

The old Muehlebach is in bad shape and they are doing more affordable apartments there while the KC Club building is in much better shape. I think it just comes down to numbers. This is a pretty cool project. I wonder if the four floors of office will be on top of a garage or if the four floors inc...

This is the building on the SW corner of 9th & grand and the smaller building next door. Original facades are not covered up apart from the ground floor storefront of 910 grand

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

Wasn't sure where to post this, but UMB is consolidating their campus and listing 906 and 910 Grand buildings for sale.
910 is primarily used for storage right now.
Both are under-utilized, gorgeous historic buildings which would be great residential/hotel/office.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Wonderful, you have thoroughly investigated the use case scenario for a Filling Station employee or immediate neighbor. Now what about residents near 26th and Charlotte? 27th looks much more attractive than 31st or Linwood. What about the MAJOR draw of Liberty Memorial, WWI museum, and the surroundi...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

27th would be great for Liberty Memorial/WWI Museum and Longfellow. Not to mention all of the under-construction, proposed, and potential development along 27th street which could fill out and completely change that area from what it is today. I'd take 31st over Linwood since Linwood feels more like...
