Re: OFFICIAL - McCown Gordon HQ

Why? Tore down a two story building directly on the streetcar line and replaced it with another two story building while giving incentives to move a company five blocks. Such a waste of a good spot that already had a building...and we had to pay for it. It was a renovation, not a complete teardown.

Earlier renderings did not include that fence. Not a fan.

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Music video for Ssion's song 'Inherit' features at least a few scenes filmed in KC (they used to live here) The opening scene is at Royal Liquors on SW Blvd. There's a quick scene or two on Grand (you can see the 47 bus), and I think the cemetary scenes are Union Hill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Brioche closed suddenly. Landlord boosted rent 25%. I suspect they have a tenant lined up that needs more than one retail stall, as neighboring tenants are also leaving due to the increase. Here's the tax history for that parcel, in case you were wondering if the boost was connected to that in some...

Yeah, I'll hold off until the actual Thou Mayest 2.0 opens, thank you very much. Stretchy is becoming the Johnny Kaw's of the east crossroads.

CPC agrees with you! Rejected: describes boundaries as 'arbitrary' and 'political.'

But who knows what the full council will do to score political points in this election year.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Shields has put in an application going to the CPC tomorrow which would make the 1989 plaza bowl recommendations an ordinance: https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2019/02/04/country-club-plaza-bowl-development-ordinance.html Clearly, this is in response to the Legacy development proposal. Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

^i see pros and cons but come on, 81 home games per season is more than just a 'few nights of the year' That's less than a quarter of the year. I was obviously exaggerating, but the point still stands that the facility will not be in use for the vast majority of its existence, while also occupying ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

20 thousand people live in downtown KC, maybe 10% of those would go to a baseball game on a given night. So there are 2000 people. the 18-30 thousand would have to make their way into the city. No thanks. You're overlooking downtown's daytime workforce population who would likely stick around downt...

Re: Remodeling Town Pavillion

Anybody been to the Chinese place yet? I've been a couple of times. Its a nice, quick, and cheap lunch option. Their basic options are their house beef, chicken, or tofu paired with either rice, noodles, or salad. Haven't tried the burgers. As a person that eats out frequently over lunch, I'd kill ...

The Assurant lot at 20th & Grand is under contract. Expected to be mixed use, maybe 5-7 stories. (Almost) Anything on this site is better than the current situation, however I would hope for something more dense than a 5-7 story project. That would essentially be another City Club, Milhaus East Cro...

It's been under construction for a couple months or more. The townhomes are framed and the apartment foundation poured.
