Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I actually can’t believe they lasted this long. I was in there for lunch about a year ago. I think we were the only people in the restaurant in the middle of the lunch hour that day. Our friends said that they had lost a lot of their clientele. The place was very old style. so their clientele died ...

I love Burlington, but it would bring in the wrong purely ghetto element.

There's easily 3x as much retail in that part of town as there was in 2000 and Independence didn't exactly grow at the same time.

Re: Independence Center

Here's an article in the KC Star about the foreclosure. Not a good sign. It seems like another enclosed mall in KC might bite the dust. http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/article198643414.html Didn't this mall recently add two major tenants (Dicks and H&M)? And isn't is nearly fully leased...

Re: Oak Park Mall - Nordstrom Leaving

I wonder when the fourth floor of the men's store was walled off? I remember when they sold electronics up there. Kind of weird that they now have escalators to nowhere. I can't read the Biz Journal article but I could see someone like Alamo Drafthouse repurpose some of the space. Their theater in ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

One option Oak Park could consider is trying to get Bloomingdales to lease that spot but considering our market size that would be tough. what's the smallest market Bloomingdales is currently in? OPM might also consider trying to get Saks or Lord & Taylor but aren't they mostly on the East coas...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

As the retail landscape continues to change to more online, it's going to be harder to fill empty stores when they close. I wonder if this will be more local shops, restaurants or entertainment offerings? Interested in hearing what others think should open on the Plaza in an era when retail storefr...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Williams-Sonoma is slated to close mid-January. I have heard a lot about how the new owners of the plaza wanted to make the plaza more of a high end retailer again but I've yet to see any evidence of that. As much as I didn't like Highwoods, the new owners haven't really seemed to improve things on...

Are they offering to reimburse their employees for private schools as well? $5K isn't exactly a large enough incentive to make it worth any family to put their kids though the Hickman Mills School District. Lee's Summit wants to annex 96 acres from KC for the Paragon Star project and they they are ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Missouri could undercut any Kansas airport in one day. The state would have to issue the bonds and even then... One of the main points the recent proposals made was that kci has runway infrastructure that other cities would beg for. A Kansas airport is a pipedream. Kansas isn't going to replace KCI...
