What are forum members' favorite places in K.C. to dine around the holidays?

As for me, I always enjoyed Rembrandt's. The atmosphere was elegant and festive and the food delicious.

Does anyone know if it has reopened yet?

What types of retailers are going into this development?

That's a good idea about trolley lines running from the Plaza down Ward Parkway.

I agree with McKee of Olathe's Chamber of Commerce. The mall should try to sign more traditional tenants but it first needs major remodeling. Also, an entertainment component should be added to attract younger customers.

Replace Bannister with power center type retail?

An article in the KC Star recently mentioned Ward Parkway's lower level is going to be renovated.

A Petsmart is scheduled to open sometime in one of the four vacant spaces.

Has anyone heard what other stores might be coming?

I read recently on the K.C. Star website that the Tuscany Manor in Lee's Summit closed.

The restaurant mainly served italian food and had a unique setting in an old farmhouse.

The owners stated the slow economy was a factor in the closing.

In my opinion, there are currently too many chain restaurants on the Plaza. I generally prefer the locally owned, upscale establishments like Plaza III and Starker's Reserve. I agree with Trailerkid's idea of transforming the center into something similar to the Parks at Arlington.

An ice skating rink and more anchor stores would be good solutions to some of Metro North's problems and may put it on the road to recovery.

It's good to see the Plaza recruiting more unique stores.

Typical chain stores that can be found in malls don't fit in a prestigious area like the Plaza.

I vote for more roller coasters and a new hotel.

Afterall, new roller coasters attract the big crowds to theme parks.

Your ideas of a mini Zona Rosa type development would be the best option, especially if Dillard's is no longer interested.

At least the owners are updating the mall a little.
