Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Grabbed one after getting off bus this morning and motor wouldn't kick start, acted like breaks were on even though 'unlocked', I heard scooter click to unlock. I finished the ride right a way and gave it a one star rating, it asked why, and clicked the problem. So far it's still showing a charge (...

"So when this change is underwhelming it's because it's 15 years behind."

I think those words are engraved on the wall in the council chamber.

Spechter what do you make of the price? Seems to add up rather quickly.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

^Given they can be dropped off anywhere, electric and depending on range, agree Bcycle could be in trouble unless scooters cause issues and KCMO bans them. A couple cities have so far. edit: Back down to only 4 scooters in RM at about 12:30. They are indeed being used. Found that range is 15-18 mil...

Re: e-Scooter Share

I found it pretty convenient over lunch to use for running an errand. The $4 price was maybe a little steep and will help keep my B-cycle membership going in cooler weather. I rode in the street except when I needed to go the wrong way on a street :D Riding on the sidewalk with all the grates and pe...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Looks to be catching on quickly. This morning it showed only a few scooters in River Market, at lunch hour there are quite a few more. There were a few at Anton's an hour ago, now none. They're shifting around. Could this impact streetcar ridership? In some cases it may improve ridership if used to...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I'm excited to try these out, but are helmets really legally mandatory and enforced? That will keep our household from using this. My wife and I don't have helmets and don't plan on purchasing any for a three to five minute ride. I don't think helmets are required--that notice in the app is just te...

Re: 1800 Walnut

Pretty sure this will be built. Apparently doesn't need Council approval. I thought all projects over a certain dollar value had to get CPC/Council approval. Am I mistaken? Surely this one would qualify. Regardless, it should get Ushered (see what I did there) through the process as speedily as pos...

Re: e-Scooter Share

The only valid complaint I've come across is people going too fast down sidewalks with pedestrians. All companies educate riders on this, but it's much more a city infrastructure issue than the companies doing anything wrong. Shouldn't be much of an issue in KC because by the time you get up to spe...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Westport had this same problem about 5 years ago and poisoned over 50 street trees. They got serious about tree health after that and the WRBL started educating the property owners and managers about proper snow treatment. They understand the value those street trees provide and want to preserve th...
