Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)
FWIW, the grill end of the building is the only portion without windows right now--perhaps the stained glass will make an appearance.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
I think I could get behind a stop half-way between Linwood and 31st. On my bus ride this morning I made sure to pay attention to where the stops are and it is pretty crazy that Union Hill is so far away from a stop. Honestly, the 27th Street stop could probably be moved up to the top of the hill an...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
I am pretty enthusiastic about moving the Liberty Memorial stop to 27th. Should be a boon for future development in the Crown Center/Union Hill area. I am ambivalent at this point about 31st v. Linwood, but agree we should do one or the other.

Hasn't Anton been supposed for two or three spots? IIRC he was going in where il Lazzarone is now prior to them.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Speaking of prime locations that aren't being well utilized in the neighborhood, has anyone heard if the former Winslows BBQ space in the City Market is going to be leased? THAT would have been a better spot for an ice cream shop in my opinion. On another River Market related note: I saw a notice o...

Often has a line out the door in Waldo, so I think it should do just fine in RM. Looking forward to having an actual ice cream place downtown.

https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2018/03/28/kcata-suit-bad-fences-make-bad-neighbors-on.html She also claims that the KCATA built the fence and that it has been around since 1989. So she basically conceded that the property was theirs? Wow, she is a terrible attorney. Not to mention that...

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)
I recall the Savoy having two dining rooms, the one with the booths, woodwork, and murals, and another that was much more plain. Back in the day the mural/Truman booth room was smoking, the plainer room was non smoking. I recall the same--though by the time I was in there the plain room was mothbal...

Pizzabella holds the honor of being the only restaurant I've walked out of after being seated. It was a slow weekday evening; the servers and the host were all talking to each other and completely forgot about our table, so...after 20 minutes, we left. Have been hearing similar stories from a few p...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
wahoowa, I'm guessing you got the same email I did this morning. :-) In that email, it was mentioned that Regulated Industries will require consent from all property owners within 500 feet as a condition of reinstatement - I'd assume it's at their discretion when dealing with suspended licenses. No...

Re: Five Light
It'd be different if there weren't surface lots sitting all around downtown. Kansas City has no housing problem. No one has a right to live in power and light. Get rid of parking requirements and build build build. This is the city that can't get East village figured out. That knowingly let's devel...
