Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

Joe has stated over and over again he is DONE opening more "Joe's". Cool story, but that doesn't really address how anyone thought this was a better idea than that. "I'm tired of giving people what they want, so instead I'm going to give people something vaguely similar but simultane...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

Agreed-- I'm glad this is happening, but I am surprised the Joe's brand isn't more front and center. I'd have called it something like "Joe's KC County Line Ice House." Or something.

...or maybe just Joe's KC....

Re: Downtown Airport (MKC)

I believe almost anytime you see a 737/757 sized plane sitting out on the tarmac it's a baseball team in town to play the Royals. It is very frequently a Delta plane but I've seen others as well, and you'll notice they're almost exclusively out there when the Royals are at home. The 757 that's out ...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

The absence of a smoke smell in the vicinity of the building suggests they are not smoking on site. Also, would Town Pavilion really want a smoker perfuming the place all day long? I recall they were going to have space for fryers in the new spot which allowed them to start serving french fries, whi...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

FWIW, I live right off the line and use the streetcar frequently. I haven't really experienced any of the concerns discussed here other than waits on Saturdays due to backups in River Market (and I hold out hope that with some effort the city will come to its senses on the new garage). Occasionally ...

Re: A vision for 8th St between Main/Broadway as pedestrian only

But I fully expect the city to fuck this up by building a black-hole parking garage on its lot adjacent to the City Market. No no no don't you get it, no one goes to City Market anymore it's too crowded. But for real, this garage is a case study in Shooting Self in Foot 101. Step 1: Invest $102 mil...

Re: P&L District: 14th & Main Site Proposal

So no comment on the questionably open primo spot at NW corner of 14th/Main? Is Cordish holding out for something in particular? This is what I've always assumed. They aren't in a hurry to lease it (thanks KCMO!) so they want to make sure that when they do it is something of a draw. Personally, I'v...

Re: Does the Plaza need a drastic change or on the right path?

I'd like to see Nichols pedestrianized b/c it only runs about 4 blocks and doesn't connect anything at present. Add kiosks in the middle of the street to take up some of the space--use them to germinate new retailers. They could make two blocks permanent and another block changed up every few years...

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)

Don't forget that Parks offered to pay for and install bike lanes on Penn Valley Drive (Broadway) when they reworked the street a couple of years ago but KCMO Bike Ped coordinator at the time said "No thanks it isn't on the bike plan."

Re: 110 E. 3rd- Apartment Proposal

All armchair developers should go get a very large loan and then pay the interest on it while they try to find a viable retail tenant, which is a thriving segment of the commercial rental marketplace. While they are at it, get another loan to install a kitchen and then find a restaurateur who will ...

Re: 110 E. 3rd- Apartment Proposal

Centropolis isn't my style, but it gets an A for effort. There is certainly room for improvement. I would say it's better than most of the other recently completed residential developments in the RM. The garage entrance is criminal, as is the mess outside the front door, making it completely inacce...
