Re: Misc Crossroads News

I'd be interested in a little more interaction with the corner, especially on Grand. But, of course, this is pretty cool. Just nitpicking because that's what we do here.

It will look nice as a visual termination of Nichols which I assume we will be pedestrianizing soon. :-|

Narrowing the street! A missed opportunity for mixed-use...but I don't hate this.

There are lots of other improvements I'd like to see done before that anyways. The main one being a redo of the north lawn
Exactly. Always wanted that lawn to look like Versailles, the one in France, not Missouri.
City Park in Versailles, MO is fancier than the north lawn

As for a newer restaurant wonder how Kobi Q is doing, i remember going by on a Weds at like 8:15 pm and the place was dark Not encouraging. Hours listed to 9:30pm. As we've all discussed a thousand times, the worst thing a retail business can have is inconsistent hours. If I can't count on you bein...

Only knock on this building is that there is nothing going on at ground level except the headlamps of parked automobiles.

Re: Trees in KC (ongoing)

So I noticed the other day they chopped down the trees in front of City Center facing Main leaving about a 1' stump sticking out of the iron planter cover. Is the plan to re-do the sidewalks or something or did the City just decide to kill some innocent trees? Same thing along Delaware in River Mar...

Single lane drop has now become a double lane drop. Perhaps only while they install concrete barriers?

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time

Light wells for light and ventilation were common before modern HVAC and lighting. No one wanted an office/desk far from a window. Now due to the former and also desire for larger floor plates these often get filled in. Another example is the old NY Life bldng(catholic diocese). I knew light wells ...

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

Lane drop in place on both 10th and Grand. Traffic control permit says "construction on The Reserve". No plans on Compass so I assume this must just be maintenance?

EDIT: An interior demo permit was issued 10/19/18. So...this is moving forward albeit slowly?

What's being built just east or possibly northeast of the Health Department (~24th & Troost)? I noticed a crane and what looked like new construction over there this morning, but I was running late for work so didn't have time to detour over to see it.
I *think* that is the new hotel.

Re: East Village Transit Center

Why is the default proposal always to take a vacated parcel and add green space? We already have under-utilized green spaces/parks downtown: Ilus Davis Park, Oppenheimer Park, Barney Allis Plaza. Oh, and KCMO has a terrible history maintaining parks. Any green space here will end up being wh...
