Re: 20th and Walnut - Oddo Development

This looks great, and is very exciting. I don't think this justifies a block long garage along Grand--but perhaps they're unrelated....

EDIT: I must temper my enthusiasm slightly after learning of NSPJ's involvement

Re: 1900 Grand Blvd

There is no development on the Assurant lot across Grand that could justify building a standalone garage like this. Have we learned nothing? The Assurant lot is zoned for up to ~1,000,000 SQFT of floor space. Something like that obviously isn't likely but would justify a not terrible garage such as...

about a week ago he told me they would probably have longer hours at least to some extent.
Oh well that is good news. Could maybe get some walk-in evening traffic.

Word on the street is that Wrap it Up is officially moving to the Stilwell Building on 9th Street that used to be a plant shop years ago. No word on evening hours, though it seems unlikely.

Abnos has absolutely let this beautiful building rot away. He is trash. Abnos never owned this building. We were talking about Wayne Reeder, and someone chimed in about Abnos. Thanks for the correction Edited above for clarity. We can all understand why you'd get the two of them confused.

In fairness though, those grates suck. That sidewalk outside Kaldi et al is just about the worst walking experience downtown.
Because they are slippery when wet?
Slippery when wet and bouncy when stepped upon. Plus the cords for the lights in the trees ensnare feet.

I'm open to closing the block to automobiles, but it should remain and at-grade public space.

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

Could this block be a home for Waddell & Reed? Word is there's nothing to the 1034 Main discussion, which got me thinking: 12th and Mcgee would all but guarantee views of/from the south given Sprint Center's existence. Seems like a prime spot for a large office building relatively close to streetcar...

Re: Companies moving downtown

Do we have reason to believe 1034 Main is anything other than a glimmer in Jon Copaken's eye? It has been referred to several times here but I haven't heard anything as to a status change from 20-year-old conceptual drawing to actual project. But, naturally, I want to believe. :D

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

At the Plaza stop, both lanes of the streetcar and the dedicated bus lanes will be on the east side of Main in a transit plaza. It shows that in the rendering if you take another look. My question is where will the UMKC stop be? Does it move to the Wiggings trail, in the old ROW, at that point? Thi...

Who does own that abandoned office building?
I really like this building and wish it could be put back into service perhaps with some new development to the south.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I just don’t see the justification for EW streetcar at any of the places mentioned and if the stadium isn’t going to be on a streetcar line, it might as well stay where it is. The whole point is to connect it with existing entertainment infrastructure and make using mass transit to get to the game ...
