Hi again, this is Zasco.
I've always been curious as to whatever became of that auto salvage yard which used to be right off of K-32 east of Linwood? There were supposed to have been close to a million junked cars there. Did they move somewhere else in the area?
Thanks.

Thunderlake Speedway and the Wolcott area again...
Hi again, members...this is Zasco. I'd seen that Thunderlake Speedway in the Wolcott area has been permanently closed...I wonder why? I've recently looked on Google Maps and have seen that the entire park has been emptied, even the asphalt on the track itself had been taken up. Did the owners reloca...

Wolcott, Kansas...again
Hi again, this is Zasco. Speaking of the former Wolcott neighborhood, has anyone found out any new information and/or photos of the community? I'd also heard that there was a used-car dealership there called the "K-5 Motors" (named for the highway which runs through the area). I'm still in...

Record and Bookstores...
Hi again, friends, this is Zasco. I have a story I'd like to share with you. In the mid-to-late Seventies and all of the Eighties I was a frequent visitor to the greater KC area, there were old used-and-rare bookstores as well as record stores on the Missouri side...I've noticed that the businesses ...

Abandoned (?) cement plant...
Hi again, members.
I was looking on Google Maps (street view) and is that an abandoned cement plant just northeast of the Sugar Creek community, bordering the Missouri River?

Re: Wolcott area...
I noticed that on Google Earth. There were businesses and homes still there in 1991...but by 1997 all of that was gone. The big oval-shaped go-kart race track (Thunderlake Speedway) today sits between Elm and Main Streets. But prior to 1991 there were several other streets on the opposite side of th...

Re: Wolcott area...
I've heard of it...and seen the route recently via Google Maps. It's lovely. But no, I haven't personally been on it...at least, not yet.grovester wrote:If you haven't taken the road through Wolcott to Leavenworth, it's a great ride.

Re: Wolcott area...
I would still like to see photos of it before everything was torn down and moved away. Yes, it probably was abandoned because of such.longviewmo wrote:I assume it was abandoned for being in the flood plain?

Wolcott area...
Hi everyone... I was wondering if anyone here has any pictures or stories about the former town of Wolcott? I have heard a lot about this community, how it once was one of the main stops on the Kansas City/Leavenworth interurban line, it was a close-knit town where everyone knew each other and it wa...
