Re: Should Mark VanLoh resign as Aviation Director?
A little internet fun is free for you and me. The folks/liars on here who advocate for expensive projects we don't need in K.C. but are involved in them behind the scenes, cost us money. Just come out and say who you work for or what company you own, how you will be involved and make your arguments ...

Re: Should Mark VanLoh resign as Aviation Director?
if you don't like high sales tax, avoid the entertainment districts. everywhere else it's a pretty average rate. if you want a low sales tax you avoid KC and head into NKC. the city rate is currently only 2.5%. KC in Jackson County is almost twice that. I do. I have never been to the P&L and tr...

Re: Should Mark VanLoh resign as Aviation Director?
He should be investigated for for graft, convicted and imprisoned. Shouldn't the investigation portion of that be concluded before you unilaterally assign guilt and meter out hypothetical punishments for the crime of not having the same opinion as you, in all your glorious aviation industry experti...

Been there once. What a shithole.
Over half their beers and food listed on the menu was not available. Service was horrible. Food was really crappy. Can't believe that DDD stopped there.

Re: Metro North Mall
I was at Baby's R Us off of Barry Rd. yesterday to buy a gift card for yet another friend who is having a baby and got to talking to one of the employees about that big strip mall they're in that's barely 10 years old, maybe less, but half empty. I told him it was a shame and asked him why they were...

In the past month I have taken pics of the interior, exterior and the in-house butcher shop operation at Anton's. I have cleared this with Anton, so if you want to see a bunch of pics of the place, the link is below.

Some of the biggest advocates on the Rag for spending lots of someone's else's money are getting paid for their advocacy. We know it.

Re: Jimmy John's to open Drive-Thru restaurant at 9th & Broa
Lemme get this straight. You guys were all for the P&L and the Streetcar debacle, both of which will cost us hundreds of millions of dollars, but a silly drive-thru that will cost you nothing throws you into fits of rage? That's pretty effin' progressive. Oohhh. I get it now. You guys weren't of...

Re: Jimmy John's to open Drive-Thru restaurant at 9th & Broa
looking at the drawing they look to be really pushing it on the city code landscaping requirements for the lot 88-425-06-E I would recommend pushing the city be particular that they put in the trees and shrubs required here on top of the trees required under 88-425-05-B. my rough count requires 7 t...

http://www.kansascity.com/2013/11/23/4644859/kc-council-will-review-plans-for.html The quotes in that article from Bill Dietrich and Travis Kiefer are ridiculous. To reiterate: this is a bad project that is bad for downtown and should not be built regardless of whether it includes a drive-thru. Thi...

Re: Bridgeport Church moving into El Torreon Ballroom
The Cowtown Mallroom was in it's basic form, a junk store. There were a few vendors that had some unique stuff, but it was a Thrift Store/Swap & Shop type of place. Actually, it was lower quality and less selection. A lot of dusty junk.

Re: Restaurants in General
Went to eat at Jack's Stack in Martin City this evening. Got there before 5:00 and still had to wait 30 minutes before being seated. Not complaining about that but I did get a chance to think while waiting (yes, I know that can be dangerous). Before the casual dining establishments came into existe...

How 'bout a Tiki Bar in the new Screenland space on 17th & McGee. That would be a great spot for one.

Re: Tiki Lounges in Kansas City
Just messaged a friend who owns a restaurant or two in town if he knows of any Tiki Bars in K.C. He said no, but that a friend just opened one up in Jeff City. Here's a link to it's FB page. https://www.facebook.com/ShrunkenHeadTropicLounge link from Jeff City paper. http://www.newstribune.com/news/...

Re: Tiki Lounges in Kansas City
What about the Bamboo Hut on 40 Highway. It's kind of a Tiki-Bar. At least it looked like one the last time I was in there.
Wonder if it's still open?
