Couple new liquor licenses KobiQ in old czar bar space (pic posted somewhere else on here) and Ron Rico opening next to border brewery in east crossroads. Can't find any real info on either of them. Yeah, that's why I posted the pic of KobiQ... didn't seem to exist online anywhere , which is weird ...

Any idea what's going on with this spot? This sign appears to be new since Streetview last visited the area in April, but the recent graffiti would indicate it's probably not being too actively worked on... and the food definitely does not sound like a winning combo. https://i.imgur.com/YDAT1Ms.jpg
The exterior finishes on the La Quinta will probably match their new prototype in Wichita minus the big cardboard box around the entrance. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x87bafdb92c8228d5%3A0xd32bf55bf1b37f0a!2m17!16m16!1b1!2m2!1m1!1e1!2m2!1m1!1e3!2m2!1m1!1e6!2m2!1m1!1e4!2m2!1m1!1e5...

Looks like he's also running a restaurant in Boonville now. http://www.feastmagazine.com/the-feed/k ... 7cd60.html
That exposed stairwell is pretty cool. Wonder if that is to encourage using the stairwell. It looks like there's space as sort of an observation platform at each level. And nice that every building they've been adding lately looks completely different. Am talkin to you Cordish. ;-) Guessing it's an...

I’ve yet to see a single bike utilize the bike lanes downtown around the Power and Light area. I’ve seen more skateboard nerds than anything. If it's nice over Christmas, I'll be biking down there probably... but these recent comments seem to ignore the fact that we're heading into winter. Cold. It...

Not to derail much further from the topic, but it'll be interesting to see if we start seeing cities trade land for development opportunities. Unity Village gave up everything south of Bannister to Lee's Summit a few years ago (except the apartment complex that holds most of the village population) ...
Another chain BBQ struggles and goes under in KC. How many extant bbq chain restaurants are there in KC (outside of KC chains)? Is there still a Famous Dave's out at the Legends? I guess there will be another Billy Simms in Gardner in 2018. http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/...

KC Life Insurance, aka the reason why there's a number of other vacant lots around.

Yeah, it sounds familiar to me too. Best bet on finding it would be one of the databases that MCPL subscribes to that contains all Star articles since like 1990 or so... it wouldn't have pictures but it'd have text at least.
The Chua Quan Am Buddhist Temple, at Lexington and Park avenues in the Old Northeast, is making progress. Artisans were brought in from overseas to construct decorative elements of the temple facade and entrance. Location: http://tinyurl.com/ycxjgaac Looks like they grafted it to the south side of ...
