Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

"If a motivational speaker at Municipal Auditorium is the worst it gets, then it can't be that bad." It was that traffic for the event along with the morning rush hour traffic. Traffic was more or less at a standstill. Not sure how the traffic was in the NE part of downtown but the west an...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

"Doesn't St. Louis have two airports?" Different time and different place. Besides that 2nd airport was as much a product of the Illinois state government than the local government. And I don't see the present state government of Kansas doing much to support the effort of an alternative to...

Re: Should Jackson Co. relocate the Correctional Facility?

Years ago there was talk of building a regional jail complex. Maybe the time has come to consider this option again.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

anecdotally, i hear a lot of people talking about the traffic implications of a downtown stadium. completely ignoring the fact that the vast majority of transit routes terminate downtown from every corner of the region... If there is ever going to be a downtown stadium, especially within the loop, ...

Re: Should Jackson Co. relocate the Correctional Facility?

"Does the thought of such an archaic death keep you from committing a crime that would lead to such a death?"

Considering the number of people who have been executed and on death row I don't think the idea of a death penalty enters their minds.

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

The bottoms work for a variety of reasons. I hope it comes back. Can't believe people thought the traffic was bad. There are several ways in and out - it can't be that difficult. When Kemper had large crowds it was a big mess leaving the West Bottoms. I could take an hour after the event for the pa...

Re: Is the term midwest to broad?

"i agree about KC...northern missouri i'm not so sure. seems more like migration via kentucky up the missouri and overland." Don't forget the Sante Fe neighborhood at 85th and Wornall has a connection to the Daniel Boone family. Believe the area was home to one of his sons, Daniel Morgan, ...

Re: Is the term midwest to broad?

"As long as we can agree that a hot dog is not a sandwich." Why is it not a sandwich? Growing up I had hotdog sandwiches all the time. Easy to do as a young lad. Slice a hotdog lengthwise in the middle cutting almost all the way through. Warm up in a skillet. Take a slice of bread, cut in ...

Re: Is the term midwest to broad?

"MO is tricky. Western MO seems more like the Plains - the Eastern parts are more like the South."

My split is more north/south with the MO River more or less the dividing line. Of course there are those who probably say it's KC and St. Louis together and then the rest of the state.

In choosing the location for HQ2, Amazon has a preference for:  Metropolitan areas with more than one million people  A stable and business-friendly environment  Urban or suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent  Communities that think big and creativel...

Lees' Summit, Grandview, Raymore, and Belton are loaded with greenspace to house this complex. And with easy highway access. Even KCMO along 150 west of I49 has plenty. If you want to make it closer the old federal complex at Bannister and Troost is a choice.

"DeJanes's garage, by the way, seems to have been built in 1996."

Surely the ATA knew of its existence since then. If so then why wait so long to take action? Why wait 20 years?

Wouldn't this take an act of both state legislatures like the ATA?

Instead of regional just think of using the Port Authority.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Easements provide rights for a specific and limited use of land by someone other than the owner. When a non-owner uses land in a way that excludes the owner entirely from using it himself—such as by fencing it in or building a garage on it—that's called "possession" or "tenancy"...
